Pineapples
« on: April 11, 2004, 11:29:40 pm »
I been growning this one gene of pineapple now for almost 14 years. This past December I got 3 pineapples. Well I was out in my garden today and lo and behold I have 5 more. From the looks of a couple of them I will have several more pups once the fruit rippens to plant.

For those that do not know it takes from 2 to 5 years before a plant fruits it only pineapple. My pineapples when ripe are a deep golden bronze in color. They are so sweet the skins get chewed after peeling! My entire garden is in containers. I make my own Growth containers. All organic.

Now my dwarf bananas should fruit in about 5-6 months so I might have a pineapple banana sandwich!

And you all thought that smoking was everything LOL!

Hey the smoked pineapple thing just might work. I often slice a good ripe one up into quarter inch thick slices, paint with a little olive oil and hot sauce and BBQ them. I may try applying a little cold smoke and then throwing on the BBQ.

Great idea

Ditto on the BBQ'd pineapple rings.....if I forgot to add hot, Q'd P rings to the 'RC's World Famous Internationally Acclaimed and Galactically Renowned Better n' Ordinary Terriyaki Burgers", I'd have a family revolt on my hands! [:p][:p]

When I was in Australia, a "burger with the lot" or a Whopper at Hungry Jack's (Burger King here) came with all the normal stuff we put on plus a slice of pineapple, a fried egg & a slice of red beet. I was a little apprehensive at first, but it was pretty good!

Naw....they're all busy putting on their raingear and taping up the sleeves. By the time I add the avacado and bacon this burger drips like a monsoon...definitely a cook & wear meal!!

BTW, for those who wait for such things....the halibut are starting to make a showing in the Bay here!!
