is it ok to spray the drip tray/pan with pam or olive oil?  just want to be sure its ok with it being so close to the heating element... I think it will help with clean up...

I know some have used the pam for the grill on the v tray but i am not sure it helped much.  But yes, you can use it.

i do not spray any of my racks, trays , or pans, I let them soak over night in a tub of soapy water and then clean

I always spray the racks and v-tray. I also soak for a couple of hours for easy clean up. Never had any flare ups.

I use the Pam Grill Spray. It works a little better at the higher temperatures.

I spray them with Pam and cleanup, soak them in the laundry sink over night in Dawn soap and cleanup is real easy...

I use Easy Off to clean the trays. Does a great job. Just do it outside.
