Rum BBQ Sauce

Made some homemade rum bbq sauce today for a recipe coming up.

Dominican Rum my son in law gets for me.


The ingredients.



Rum


Players



Simmer the onion, bell pepp, garlic up for 20 mins.



Add the dry spice



The players and simmer for 40 mins.


After the simmer hit the sauce in the processor



Strain the larger chunks out



Cool and cover. Ready for the next step tomorrow.

That looks good Nepas. I drank a lot of that Rum when we were in the DR in January.
Brought 4 bottles back with us and it all seemed to evaporate soon after the bottles were
opened ;).

Now this one I might try. I googled some recipes and couldn't quite match up all the ingredients in your pics, so if you get a spare minute and are feeling generous, the list of ingredients and quantities would be deeply appreciated :)

Rick, could you post this as a recipe? It sounds and looks wicked.

Yup i did  ;D

Ya'll are mi buds....nepas digs deep into the receipt vault  :D

1/2 cup canola oil
5 chopped garlic gloves or 1 Tbs store bought chopped in the jar
1 med onion
1 green bell pepp
salt...to taste
3 Tbs chili powder, I like gebharts or mexene
1 Tbs black pepper
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp ground clove
1 cup dark brown sugar
2 cups water
1/4 cup dark rum...i used 1/2 cup...... I think i drank allot to  :D
2 cups ketchup
1/2 cup black strap molasses
1/2 cup yellow mustard
1/2 cup cider vinegar
2 tsp your fav hot sauce.

Heat the oil in a saucepan, Add garlic, onion, green bell pepp and a nice pinch of salt and cook on med heat. Stir until peppers are soft (about 10 mins) Add rum and simmer for 2-3 mins. Add chili powder, black pepper, allspice and clove. Cook another 3 mins.

Add the brown sugar, water, ketchup, mustard, vinegar, black strap and hot sauce.....Take a drink of rum  ;D and splash in more to the sauce  ;D Simmer on med heat for 30 mins or until thick. Stir allot so it dont stick.

Apply to the ribs or whatever 10 mins prior to taking off the grill

Let cool some and put in blender or food processor until smooth. Tatse and if needed add more salt. Store in a glass or plastic container with tight lid. Will keep for 2-3 weeks.
