Spent Friday through Monday cooking for the emergency personnel, volunteers, and victims of the tornado.  It was a humbling experience.  A group of hunters and fisherman put it together and hit the ground running.  We are still serving behind fire station 1 and will for awhile.  Here is a neat song about Joplin.

The Joplin effort is one I'll never forget.  The devastation shown on TV was bad, but it didn't show the enormity of it.  It was definitely a whole lot worse in person.  People who had lost everything greeted us with a smile and many thank you's.  They are a resilient bunch that are digging in and moving on with things.  The various firefighters, LEOs, National Guard, etc. that we fed were all dedicatd to the job at hand and extremely appreciative of our efforts to provide them food.   Who would have thought that a group of outdoor folks could put this canteen together in such short order and it amazes me at the outpouring of donations of food, money, time, equipment, charcoal, etc, we recieved.  I should not have been surprised by any of this as it is typical midwestern values.  The canteen is entering its second week after providing hundreds of meals per day.  The folks in Joplin need all the help anyone can give so please donate to them.  Anyone wishing to get involved in the canteen can send me a PM.  I guarantee the experience will change your life.
