I figure on 50%.  If it is less, I am pleasantly surprised.

I thought for a second there I had a weight loss partner! That scared me a little bit!

You got the smoker going so if you smoke to much you can vac-pack the excess for later use: ie a quick dinner, added to baked beans...

Good luck in the league!  ;D

You MIGHT get lucky and only lose 40% of starting weight,

But like STC said closer to 50% is the norn.

Those are some lucky guys to be getting pulled pork.

He's doing this for Fantasy Football League - probably mostly guys - go with 8 ounces cooked per person minimum.  Leftovers freeze; shortages suck.

With my friends, all 4 ounces is going to do is piss them off.  4 ounces is a nice sized shot! ;)

Unless you buy oversized buns, 4oz makes a nice "normal" sandwich...
With FIXINS..  Guys will have 2 each -- the big guys maybe... 3 or 4...
But seriously --- assuming other fixins...  most will have 1 or 2...
All guys?--- figger 3 each to be safe.  That's 12oz ---24 uncooked.

So, 48oz = 3lbs (raw) = 4 GUYS cooked.
Multiply GUYS x 0.75LBs (raw)

Or whatever.  I've had a drink or 2towoowwwuhhh.  Carry on.

all - Please forgive hal his lack of expository writing and math skills.

hal -Post this prominently in your kitchen:

     • Four ounces pulled pork equals ½ pound raw (per person)
     • Eight ounces pulled pork equals 1 pound raw (per person)
     • Twelve ounces pulled pork equals 1½ pounds raw (per person)
     • Call stc when you need to translate that into a shopping list for a known number of guests.

I must have missed the part of the post where elweezo asked for the proper amount of meat that goes on a sandwich. :)

Mike, plan on 50% reduction of raw weight.  If it is only 40% that is more pork and leftovers for the cook.

Scotty-G

Take the amount you plan to smoke after accounting for the weight loss and add 1 extra butt...

Someone will be by to pick it up once it is ready  ;)

Ditto to the previous comments about vacuum saving leftovers
Don't know about freezing as it typically doesn't last that long - 1, 2 days MAX : all gone  :P

Thanks guys, I  am glad I asked  (I have smoked butts B4 but have never paid attention to LBs)   I am going with 2 6lbrs for 9 guys.  That will give me Aprox 24  4oz sandwiches.  Cant wait to show them what good pulled pork is and the ease of a Bradley.    I am also gonna take some ABTs , they will go well with the keg of beer that we have..
CANT WAIT TILL SUNDAY!!!!!

I know I'm a little late here but when I plan for a party I figure on 1 lb raw weight per person.

There gonna want some thing to munch on later in the night.  ;)

What he said.   Makes it real easy to shop without doing math.   ;D

Bag up the leftovers and send it home as door prizes..
