Pucks not always advancing

Hello.

My unit is almost 2 years old now, and I noticed lately that sometimes the pucks aren't advancing every 20 mins.  Came out an hour later and find a pile of ash on the burner.  Advance manually, then it could go good for a while. Is this a normal maintenance item?  I've never lubricated or cleaned anything...

Got to figure this out, as i had some chops that tasted like ashtray.
