Guy asked to buy some trail sticks I made. But im wondering how much trouble or what liability might be. Seems like one bad egg could cause you problems. I know some of you do it. So thought id as for your views on it.

i sell alot of my bbq on the side.  my wife got me my catering and business license to cover my butt.  she lets me keep 1/2 the bbq money.  i think i should get all of it but she's mean and i'm afraid of her.   :(

Sparky,

Don't let your wife Pimp you out of your hard earned money.

Generally those in businesses that involve the general public are typically held to a higher safety standard under the law. Their may also be licensing requirements, inspections, training requirements, etc. Most of the time these are minor obstacles but one must use due care and caution.

I sell to people and have had no problems. One thing i did learn is not to say beef jerky, bologna or slim jims. Beef is regulated by the USDA Commies and they don't want to loose any of your few $ you make.

This is probably the best and safest approach.

I roll through stop signs and speed all the time and have never had a problem. I am sure that one day I will get caught.

Well kind of what I thought. I've had my own side businesses long a go and never had any real problems. But never fooled with food either. I wouldn't make enough  probably to mount to any thing. But I know there is always the one person who likes to screw the pooch. And I gave sex up a couple years a go. LOL From what I understand you need a sales license, tax permit, equipment and food inspections and probably more I haven't stated. So it will probably be friends and relatives only.
