I'm hoping to start a real bruhaha here.  I'm a simple boy from way NW Montana.  People from here go "Pulled Pork"?  "Watcha gonna use, a tractor"?  So I smoked up a 7 Lb pork butt to 195 IT and pulled it.  I got some kaiser rolls and some bbq sauce and combine them for some really good sammiches.  I need some enlightenment.  I don't know the proper way to behave after I get the meat out of the smoker.  Help????

I'm a farm boy myself from Central IL. (love the tractor reference!)

We like to take our pulled pork and pile 'naked' on split dinner rolls.  We call them 'dollar' rolls.  Top with a bit of vinegary slaw (cue the howls from the Kentucky natives  ;D), and just a touch of BBQ sauce, or your favorite hot sauce cut with a shot of catsup.

That's how we like it.

I really like Habs Vaunted Vinegar Sauce for adding a little moisture to the pulled pork right after pulling it.

Habs also posted a link to Lay's Tangy Carolina Sauce. This stuff was to die for! It's clearly the winner when it comes to various sauces that I have had for pulled pork.

For me.... bun, pulled pork (heaping), Lay's Carolina Sauce and finally some cole slaw.... mmmmmm.... Heaven! In my opinion this sauce is awesome! When I make it, I don't thicken it as thick as regular BBQ sauce. I prefer it a little runny.

Bun, pulled pork, cole slaw.
Sauce if you have to.

Bun, meat, sauce if you want it...leave the slaw on the salad bar where it belongs.

Well as a wet coaster who knew nothing about real pulled pork, I have to say that you are in for a treat. I use kaiser buns cause they are bigger and as a person who absolutely hates coleslaw, you have to put it on. I mean it, After having made my own awesome pulled pork I had one from a vendor by the ferry terminal. Iy was terrible but when I had him put some slaw on it it transformed it to a very good sammie. Next I have to agree with the use of habs Vaunted Vinegar, holy crap is that good stuff. I have never had anything like it. But as he warns, make this when you are home alone or on a campstove outside. It is potent.

So many ways to fix a pulled pork sammy.  Guess it just comes down to what you like.  No slaw on mine please.  I take mine on a big bun add a little bbq sauce and a slice of onion.  For hamburgers give me a slice of cheese, mustard, lettuce, onion and dill pickle.  Mustard on my hot dogs please with some onion.  So I'm thinking that there is no right or wrong way for a pulled pork sammy.  Just fix her up to your liking and enjoy.  ;D

Enough ain't enough and too much is just about right.

As you have read down though this thread you have found out that everyone is just a little different in the make up the pulled pork sammie, I think you have now got a good handle on what to serve with the pulled pork, you done the pork now just serve up the condiments, the bbq sauces, slaw, and anything else you think they might like...you will be the hero either way.. and good luck

I have no issues with any of the preferences stated above (I'm a bread/roll/whatever plus slaw - or not - and sauce of choice guy) but seriously, STC - catsup?  You eat that stuff?  You know it's made out of stewed cats, don't you?  That's why they call it catsup - short for "cat soup."

Tater, these guys have led you all around the world on the quest for the perfect pulled pork sandwich.  It's really quite simple.  White bread, a pile of pulled pork on one slice of bread, a couple dashes of Starne's hot sauce, a shake of salt and the other piece of bread on top.  For God's sake don't desecrate a pulled pork sandwich by putting cole slaw on it.  Now put the sandwich in a sandwich toaster and toast the bread.

Voila!  The perfect Starne's pulled pork sandwich.

What the heck is wrong with you people?  Cole slaw?  Really?  Sheesh! ;) ;D ;D  If Hal4UK was on here he would kick y'all's butt!

Just kidding everyone(except for the cole slaw part). :)

Sometimes you feel like a nut; sometimes you don't.  It's the same with slaw (especially cowgirl's Chipotle cole slaw).

Bun, pork, onions and jalapenos.  I don't put sauce on mine I want to taste the pork.
