Smokin Soon

Deb, they claim the 7 qt will do 15 cups of flour for bread. I have only gone as high as 12 and it handled it well.

Thanks Hab.

I played with that a bit.   I'm thinking that is an up-down alignment though, my problem is left to right.  I had too big a load in the bowl and I think I might have actually bent something.

My dad will be here at christmas, he will be happy to have something to do ;)

I hope he can fix it, that an expensive appliance.

You might want to check out the link about.  They might have the replacement parts to fix your mixer too.

Looks like it isn't the worm gear -

Found this http://www.goodmans.net/d/10/kitchenaid-stand-mixer-gears.htm

Figured I would replace the worm gear and brushes.  Both are showing some wear.  Also the seal and grease.  Looks like the seal went when the teeth went.  Leaking grease everywhere.

Jim

same part on mine, though mine looks much worse.   Thanks guys!  This is much cheaper than a new mixer

Drac

Well, dropped the $80 yesterday to order the new parts.  Like I said replacing not just the destroyed gear but also the worm gear assembly, the seal and both the carbon brushes.  Should have it hopefully by the weekend.
Than it will be the cleaning assembly and greasing up.  Might be able to get some sausage sooner than I thought.

Talking with another guy at work and the same gear in his went too.  That makes four people who have lost the same gear.  Makes me wonder what's going on.  You would expect the nylon gear to be the common fail point.

I spent about $60.  I got the parts last week but haven't had a chance to do anything with them.

Drac

Well, got everything in last week and put it all together.  Runs for now but it grinds a bit.  Like the parts are just slightly wrong.  Figure it will get me through a couple months until I get the money saved up for a new one.
