Need your help.  My slicer just crapped out so I am in the market for a new one.  I can't afford a used Hobart so that's out.  What slicer do you guys have and recommend?

Has anyone ever seen an electric slicer with a brand name of Avantco?  Saw one on the internet that "looked" good but I have never seen one firsthand.

Thank you for your suggestions and information.

I have not seen the avantco in person, and i cannot remember the brand name on mine. (in temporary storage)
After having 3 or 4 of the less expensive models i learned that whatever one you choose make sure there is a blade cover,
meaning just the edge is touching the product you are slicing, if the whole blade is exposed it will cause some pretty bad blade drag and slow the motor down (cheese is the worst) creating an uneven cut and killing the motor.

Some people are like Slinkies... They're really good for nothing.
...But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

Rick, thank you very much for your offer.  I have just ordered a new slicer.  I appreciate your generosity.
