WOOHOO! Judging assignments

Jan and I both received letters today from the organizers of the BBQ on the River Festival asking us to be Judges for the competition.  The festival runs 9/27-9/29.  The competition is the morning of 9/29.  Jan and I have both been assigned to the Whole Hog competition.  Whole Hog is fun to judge as you go on site to the teams where they present the hog, answer any questions you may have and serve you at tables that can really be decked out.  All other competition entires, ribs, shoulder, poultry is blind judged.

This is not a KCBS sanctioned event but the judging criteria is very similar.  We're both very excited to do it.  I judged whole hog last year.  This will be Jan's first time.

The only thing I judge is car shows  ;D

Was there last year and it took MANY Coors Lites for Larry to wash down all that pig he ate.

I judged whole hog at New Holland, PA; and they do blind judging. A platter containing meat from five sections of the hog is displayed, judges have to sample meat from each section, then give an overall score.

Thats Awesome, Sometimes I wish the United States was smaller so I could walk on over there and watch yah eat that pig, But then I'd have to build a fence, with a gate :D
