Man, we just cleaned out the MotherInLaw's basement and I tossed one of those drills in the dumpster..

The thing weighed like 4 pounds, noisy as all get out.

An old country woman told me to plant marigolds around my garden to keep out animals.Tried it last year and didn't have a single plant come up missing or chewed on.I think it's the smell of them that deter the animals. It's worth trying for only a couple of bucks for seed packs.

I am not so sure I want to be a Farmer.

I slept terrible, woke up stiff as a board, got aches in my body
all the way to my toes and a dang blister on my thumb.

I finished all the first till in a rough out area so it could sit for a
couple of days to kill some of the vegetation.

When I use to plant a garden, I would start in late January and
till about once a week and let the cold weather take care of killing
the growing stuff. Since I got started late I will till every 3 days or
so for the next two weeks and then plant.

First till.

Tiller handles great. Look how straight that outside line is.

Today I will set the borders for the size the garden is to be
and finished the little bit of tilling to finish that off.

I don't know if I will but I use to plant a second season garden
that grew into December and January. I may be sick of being a
Farmer by then.

The theme to "Green Acres" keeps bouncing around in my head now!
"A man that won't sleep with his meat don't care about his barbecue" Caneyscud

"If we're not supposed to eat animals, how come they're made out of meat?"

Wow straight lines Must have done this BEFORE 5 o'clock!

DW and I do one every year. We enjoy it and the goodies it brings. Maybe this will give a little incentive. A sample of last years bounty  ;D

Now THATS a tiller!!

My garden gets smaller every year with less stuff in it,,now its just sweet corn and hot peppers

I squared up the garden and used my horseshoe poles for corner rods and
put a string up between them and tilled what I didn't till yesterday.

Ended up being a 60 x 45. I may plant my cukes in a different location away
from the main garden.

(Man am I sore!)

Thinking that I was behind in planting, I called a friend that has a
garden every year and after talking with him I have decided to plant:
Snap Beans and Pinto Beans (bush variety)
Lima Beans (bush variety) (Sorry Chris ;D )
both Slicing and Pickling Cukes
small dab of Eggplant
Purple Hull and Southern Peas
Jalapenos (asst heat)
Bell Peppers, (asst)
Bananna Peppers (asst)
Squash
Tomatoes (asst)
Okra.

I decided against Corn cause I have tried and not had good luck with it.
I usually buy corn on sale (4 ears for $1) and get 2 cases and cook and
freeze that. With a few cans of corn, that will last me the year.

He told me that I'm not really behind, but do need to get seeded plants in
ground soon. Plan is to till every 3 days the rest of this week and next week
and start planting the week after Easter.

Glad I can just look at the garden area tomorrow instead of tilling. I am SORE!

How's about some cauliflower for some spicy pickled vegetables like mazzetta makes. Radishes are good too. I wish I could grow a full garden, we do potted plant gardens :)

I think I can squeeze in some radishes and cauliflower. Thanks for the reminder!

That plot is HUGE

Sitting here putting the rows on graft paper and looking at a needs chart
per person on the veggies and I wish I could put some grass back. ;D
