Come on you know you all secretly eat pickled pigs feet and ears right! Hey Pork rules. A new buddy of mine. And old time smoker. Emailed me he was on his way. Talked to this man for 4-5 years and never met him. We had a great visit with him and the misses. Nice people and the brought me a gift. Smoked pigs feet. They were great, and from what i here a lot of work making. And not pickled either. When i get to know him more he may share the recipe if any one is interested.

Smoked pigs feet are great in beans and some soups. I do not use enough to warrant smoking my own. My grocery sells smoked feet and there are no pig slaughter houses in my area. I am sure that many on here would like the recipe.

I love pickeled pigs feet.  The ones from Hormel and the jelly like substance they now pack it in is not to my liking but home made is good.

I have always been curious, and tried to make pickled feet a couple years back. I can get fresh feet from my local butcher, so I bought a half dozen and tried a recipe from the Len Poli site. Well... all I can say is that it was an unmitigated disaster. Not exactly sure where I went wrong... but somewhere in the cooking process it just went awry, and I chucked the whole lot.

I would love to try again with a method and recipe that someone has first hand knowledge and experience of!

I use pigs feet (trotters) to make stock and end up eating what is left. I have never smoked them but am going to look into that now. They need a lot of long slow cooking to break down the cartilage, which is pretty much what they consist of, so I would think you would have to boil them for a while first.
Another thing on the to-do list :D

Well I know its a lot of boiling also. I will see if he'll share his technique as he has done this since a kid learning from his brother. His brothers, uncles and other" bone suckers" as their called wait for the call. And if he dont scarf some first they eat most everything. I forget the name for the thick jelly like broth. But its eat as well even after the feet are done. Understand its best on a slice of home made bread with mustard.
