Hey everyone, sorry if this has been posted already but I'm looking at smoking a fresh ham in my obs and i was looking at hanging this ham but I was just wondering how everyone else hang heavy meats in there smokers. Thanks in advance!

Habanero Smoker

Hi gamberch;

Welcome to the forum.

There are a few ways, but first I would like to mention that if the ham is small enough, such as a butt or shank; it may fit on the rack. It is a much easier way.

If it is a whole ham, or you just prefer to hang it, the below link is one of the ways I have hung hams in my smoker. It was one of my first trials at hanging a ham. If you do not have any netting, tying it with several strands of butcher's twine (both running the twine vertically and horizontally) works; but can be a little frustrating.
