Hello there.

First off, I need to start with how happy I am to be a part of this forum and that I am looking forward to speaking with you all and hopefully finding answers to my problems.

To be honest this is not about me, this is about my brother. Last year he bought a used Black Bradley Smoker. He really got hooked now and I have to admit I just love his smoked salmon. It is so delicious.  ;)

Anyway, next month his his 43rd birthday. So, because he is really into that smoking stuff, I thought about getting him a nice present in that direction. I know he is short on the smoking bisquettes. So I was thinking about getting him some more of these. This week I already checked out a few, well known trusted shopping sites as well as websites for classified adds. I found a five flavor variety value pack on http://www.used.forsale/australia/smoker-bradley-smoker. In total it contains 120 bisquettes, which seems like a pretty good deal to me.

So what do you think of that idea? Good or bad? Furthermore I would like to get him a nice cookbook as well. Then he is set up to explore the capabilities of the smoker to it's full extend.

So what do the experienced users think? Are there any recommendations for a cookbook? I guess for the bisquettes there aren't many alternatives.

However, any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Zack.

Hello Zack,
Welcome to the forum, I would say that variety pack would be the best one to give him. Thats the one I purchase because its the best bang for your buck and you have more options when smoking!
Cheers!
Johnny.

I agree, can't go wrong with the variety pack. There are plenty of smoking cook books out there just a matter of sorting through them, I like the Ted Reader ones myself.

Welcome to the forum, as the others have stated the variety pack is great because it would allow your brother as many options as he chooses

Hardly a holiday goes by when I don't get Bradley pucks as a gift.

The assortment is good unless you know he has a favorite that he uses a lot. Everyone buys me apple, maple, and pecan because that is what I use the most.

A good cookbook about smoking is Weber's Smoke (Purviance). Besides some decent recipes, it talks about making your own rubs and marinades and sauces.

If he might be into sausage or curing, look up Marianski or Polcyn.
I just spent $12 K on this Honda Accord! Why can't it tow my boat?!?

Alright. Thank you guys. So I'll get the Value Pack. As for the cookbook. I'll check out some more reviews.
