Smokin Joe

Your innovative use of the smoker in your hotel room is an excellent story and if you don't mind I would like to add it to our forum since we are looking for great Q' stories for our new book...

Would you have any objections to my doing this?

smoking in the hotel room at the townplace suites in anaheim ca...

the rear of the box is open so the fan does not pull the smoke out of the bs... kinda a pressure relief system... the fan is a simple 20" box fan... the duct is an 8" flexible aluminum vent hooked to the box with foil and hooked to the fan with a plastic grocery bag... suction keeps the bag sucked to the fan...

my NEW dual probe polder failed blinking 247deg... so i had to use the fork method after 5hrs of smoke and 9hrs total at 200' for 2 7lbs briskets... 4 hours wrapped in foil... the best i have smoked to date...

Iggy,

Looks great man![:p][8D]

My only question is why is your mug always in the pics & Micki's isn't? She contributes to the final product, does she not?[:D][:D]

owrstrich,

You are mad man~~that looks great.  Do you use some sort of small fan to help with the evacuation of the smoke?

It's not how much you smoke but how many friends you make while doing it...

That Bradley sure has a lot of pucks set up on it.  Looks like about 8 hours.  Do you actually smoke that long?  I have started smoking only max of 4 hrs, or until the meat reaches 140, then no more smoke - just heat.  Made things so much more tasty!

i use a 20" box fan with the 8" flex duct attached to the bottom left corner blowing the bs smoke out the window... i figured the other 3 corners of the fan would help keep the odor out of the room... it works well on low speed... no problems at all to this point...

the thing about smoking in the hotel room is i have to load the bs with out preheating because just the heat make too much residule smoke to open the door...

i load it... turn it on... hope the bs is at 200deg within an hour... bring the meat to temperature... turn it off... hope the smoke is gone when i open the door...

there was 5 hours of wood pucks and 3 aluminum pucks... i took the picture before advancing any of the pucks...  i used 7 hours of smoke once and it was too much... now i use either 4 or 5 hours maximum...
