In the thread I started about the big hogg someone brought up fenced hunting and It touched a nerve.

I live in the high desert of Oregon and have hunted on both public and private land and I have had my fair share of oppurtunities at deer and elk.

I have had better oppurtunities on public vs. private lands though, and the quality of animal was much better.

For me and the guys I hunt with the only real problem we have is gettting rights to cross the private land to get to public land in some of our hunt units. So the game is out there and I think those that do the  canned hunts give the sport a bad name. I do not think that they do it on purpose I just dont think they take the non-hunting populations views into account.

They shouldnt have to but unfortunatley we hunters are the minority and if we tick off the wrong pepole it does affect our rights. So image is everything for us hunters.

Many times lands are posted and guarded because of illegal ca$h crops that are growing in the back 40. :o
