So how did it turn out?  Were the on lookers fighting over the bones?  Did you do the bradley version or grill?

I did a couple beer cans myself last week friday along with 12 racks of ribs, chicken thighs, brats, stuffed mushrooms and a few others things for my employees.  The beer can chicken was done on the ranch grill.  First time I had the entire surface filled to capacity and needed more room.   That was also the most I had filled the bradley.  After the preheat, the cabinet never saw 200 again during the first 4 hours of smoke.  I pulled them after the smoke and boated them for the convection oven.  Did a quick turn on the grill for finish just before serving (and after I could make some room on the grill).

Did the beer can chicken on the grill. Had all the dry spices for the customers to try on it. The tequilla lime was a big hit. We used pepsi instead of beer.
Cooked on a 4 burner brinkmann with the 2 middle burners off.

Did you put a foil pan underneath?  The first beer can I did (3 at once), I did not put a drip pan underneath and was working on other dishes only to discover the flames coming out of the top of the grill.  Not a good sign but fortunatley only the skin was damaged and the rest was saved.  Chicken grease is quite flamable especially when you have several dripping at once.

I should suggest next time you use Root Beer, that way you can still call it beer can chicken. ;D  ;D
