All of a sudden, I'm not able to see some of the posted pix on the site when using the work computer-- a problem I don't seem to be having on the home computer.  Suspecting some sort of virus protection filter cuz we don't have babysitting software on the machine.  Any thoughts/suggesions? That said, others have commented that they're having this issue all of a sudden too.

It could be a firewall issue.  Check to see if you can actually access the site where your photos are hosted from work.  This may help determine the cause.

Thanks, Acords.  No problem viewing my pix.  Having problems with others' pix, and then only some of them

For instance-- Icerat's water toy pictures used to be able to view without problems.  Now, red x.

Owrstrich's post of the dogwash sign at Altamont (running up post count) could be viewed at home, but not at work.

Weird.

Yeah, I get the same thing. Just assumed it was the firewall knocking em out.

I would assume that it is a firewall issue.  Members use different hosting sites.  I use photobucket, but there are many others.  Could be a particular hosting site that is blcked by your firewall.  NOW GET BACK TO WORK ;) :D

No firewall issue, at least on my end.  But you're right about that work thing.

It could also be that the hosting site could be down, or having other problems.

That same issue recently changed for me at  work as well.   There are two levels of this.  One the firewall can look at incoming page requests from the browser and block any active content, direct links and such.   You get the red X  but then if you go to the URL you are fine.

The second level (that I am operating under) just says to hell with it and blocks all the access to the img sites.   I even have some forums that I can see but not post.  They haven't determined that Smoking is dangerous to my health yet I guess.

Funny thing is I work on a military installation and they even have the gunsites blocked as taboo LOL

Also, if you are using IE 6 or 7, it can be configured to block external site references within the pages coding. This is basically what the guys are doing with photobucket, webshots etc.  This attribute can be changed remotely by a windows administrator.  A good test for this is to download firefox and go to the forums, if it works, then it is a windows or IE config.
