Thanks from a FNG

Hey all,

I have been sitting back, contemplating, over getting into this smoking craze. I absolutely love smoked foods but regrettably have only been able to enjoy it when either I buy it smoked or someone else smokes it. Thanks to all of you with your inputs on this board, I have drummed up the courage to recently purchase (as of about 5 minutes ago) my Bradley Disgital Smoker. I hope I won't bore you all with any newbie questions I might have but I am seriously anticipating the waft of smoked foods here in my northern Indiana home. Hopefully, I will soon be able to answer questions posed here with the same amount of knowledge that you all have displayed. Again, all I can say is THANKS! Because of this board, I've drummed up the courage of plunking down $500 to get into this phenomenom of smoking! Hopefully, my family will soon realize what a smart move it was! ;D

You're gonna love it.

And don't worry if things don't go quite according to plan in your first, second, fourth, tenth, 50th, etc. smoke. Refer to the forum, ask for help, and someone will likely come along in a short period of time and help you solve your problem.

Oh man, you should have waited another 15 minutes, I just got back from a new product rollout by Bradley, and they have a new 3 rack model with a little more room between the racks, 8 preset heat settings (cold, 125-135, 155-165, 185-195, 215-225, 245-255, 265-275, and 285-295) along with infinite control up to 330. Also comes with a stand to get the smoker off the ground 30", large enough to set a rack down while you open the door to put your food in, as well as a cooler for your required frosty beverages. Suggested retail is going to be $395.

Okay, I'm kidding...the previous paragraph did not happen, and I have no idea if anything even remotely similar is being considered.

Welcome Smoking Duck-you didn't mention the bubba pucks and the Maverick (or similar) thermometer. These add a little more to the initial cost, but the pucks will pay for themselves and the thermometer will probably save a meal due to the inaccuracy of the Bradley themometer. Enjoy!

Thanks guys. I did actually purchase the ET-73 as well. Forgot to purchase the bubba pucks. I'll get to that as soon as I can.

Tiny, I sure am glad you were kidding about that ;D. I can't tell ya how many times in my life something like that has happened. Now, I just gotta get the BDS here, season it and start rocking and rolling.

Got a bunch of venison, ducks and geese I need to get rolling on!

lol...thanks. I'm always a smart aleck, so I just couldn't let that one go. Smoking Duck just looked like a good victim, and I thank you too, SD, for not being mad at me for that one.

I'm not sure but I think Bryan at Yard and Pool might sell them too.

Thanks Smokin Hot! I'll bet I learn more from you than vice-versa :D. I am stoked about it though. I do have 2 mallards that are waiting for the DBS to show.

Brian, thanks for the welcome. I grew up just south of Pittsburgh and I'm sure we've stomped some of the same ground. I enjoy your informative posts!
