I don't know, somebody emailed me the link.  I did see a reference to a DSLR in the captioning on one photo.

Those pictures bring back some memories.  Lived on Fillmore St. in San Francisco for many years.  We'd watch that air show from our rooftop deck (with the grill rocking and a few suds pouring).

The year of these photos is quite unique, though.  There's a high risk of fog, typically, which can limit the aerobatics.

Merry Christmas!

Top of the picture show stated:

"All shots taken w/ a Nikon D50 w/ Nikkor 70-300mm 1:4-5.6G lens; center spot metering and focus, jets shot w/ shutter priority at 1/2000sec."

Just an awesome display! The missus and I had planned on a cross-country trip to SF late last spring, but somehow ended up in Cozumel ??? ::) I think it was the 55 degrees compared to the 85 degrees.

Man, every time there's a new post here, I come back and look at the shots.  And remember a few more stories...

Those jets: can't hear them coming, but what a noise on the back side.  The sound of freedom!

Cool pics.

I worked for 25 years for Northrop Aircraft Div. The F-18 was one of the planes i worked with. Originally it was the sole ownership of Northrop Corp back in the late 70s early 80s as the F-17. Only 2 were made for the Navy for carrier ops but the Navy didnt like the landing gear assy. Later McDonald Douglas stole the plans and beefed up the landing gear and the Navy bought em.

Northrop sued Douglas and its now called the McDonald Douglas/Northrop FA/18. Northrop owns Grummen Corp also.

My last 15 years was working for Northrop B2 Division. AKA Advanced Systems Div. And the on the ATF 23 the challenger to the Lockheed Raptor which the AF bought
