I keep my Bradley in a sheltered area and then carry it to an open area when I want to smoke.  Problem:  Although the unit is pretty light weight, it's awkward to carry since it has no handles.   I usually open the door and reach under the top to carry it, but this is awkward with the door swinging up against my knees and crunching my fingers when it swings closed.  I've considered welding handles on to the thing, but I'm afraid of damaging the walls of the unit.

Anybody have any less extreme solution to this?

A small pair of handtrucks should help or you coud build a small platform with casters on bottom so you can just roll it around.

I too smoke away from my storage.  My solution lately is thus: I pull off the smoke gen each time.  The <s><font color="red">fridge</font id="red"></s> (pardon me[:I]) <font color="blue">smoking cabinet</font id="blue"> is easy to manouver with the door closed and no extra weight on the side.  I just pick it up with one hand under the base and the other arm hugs the body - very light weight.  Then move the generator which weighs more, but very small and easy to handle.

By the way, this also solves what was my bigger issue in trying to tie up or tuck the cords into the cabinet to move it.  I was forever tripping of the G.D. cords

This is the biggest advantage of the easy-on easy-off smoke gen IMO.

<b></b>I use a cart for moving my Bradley around to various places. It was purchased at Harbor Freight and the size is perfect. You can probably check this on line if thre is no store near you. As a plus it comes with a whole drawer full of tools. You can check mine out of the following link.

i was thinking about getting one of those big suction cups like commercial window installers use... suction it to the top and lug it around... i have to lug my bs from my trailer to a hotel everytime i smoke...

i can say the bs is very durable... my bs has about 20k miles on it... riding in the goosneck of a featherlite trailer...

i put the smoke generator... pucks... cords... vent duct... and all supplies in it and lay it on its back and slide it on a shelf in the trailer...

it has scapes and dents and looks sanford and son but it works and have not had any issues with rough travel on these glass smooth west coast freeways...

Iggy,

I've got one of those glass mover things and will give it a try & report back tomorrow.

Ya think next time I check into a hotel & they ask "Smoking or Non?" they would mind?

OK,

I gave it a shot and the idea actually kind of grew on me. My suction cups would not span the top vent so I had to position them closest to the middle on the generator side. That provided pretty good balance when the generator was mounted in position and made for a pretty comfortable carry.

However, since I keep mine on a table in the garage & carry it to a table on the deck, it seems a waste to lower it to the ground to carry it around & then lift it back up to table height. But I don't have to carry it from the parking lot & into my room like you do.

My only concern is the the top of your smoker must be kept very clean in order for the suction cups to retain their hold. Especially important for those out there that have the old-style glass tube heating element. If the suction gives way, you're smokin' nuttin'!

A stainless steel model. From my tests, works approximately the same except at the higher temps. A definate improvement in my mind.
