So what material do you suggest me to use instead of wood?

Something "non-combustible", like aluminum would be my choice. I've got several 8' sections of 1" channel that would work great and I'd be glad to give you enough to use for 4-6 racks.....but it's local pickup only!  ;)

I certianly can't argue with you on that Kummok.

I know in the insurance industry wood stoves are a major issue here in Canada for the exact same reason. Having said that I will probably be changing mine to alluminum.
