I was wondering if anyone has used these type of rack mesh that goes onto the rack so that the salmon pcs. won`t fall through. I understand the non-stick covered jerky racks are not that good, that the non-stick flakes off in time

I can't speak for those, although the temp seems a little low.

I can, however, speak for these http://www.yardandpool.com/High-Temperature-Jerky-Drying-Screen-p1900.html

They work great!

FLB,

a few questions on the mesh screens

1)how long  have you  been using the mesh screens?

2) your average temptures and what was your highest tempture

3) any discoloration? flaking?

4) ease of clean up? is it typical of the bradley  racks?

thanks

i do not have the jerky racks I was about to buy some and I have found alot of posts that are negative to them

Just ordered the high temp drying screens FLBR is referring to.  Haven't received them yet but read enough reviews on the forum to know that was the way for me to go.  These guys have never steered me wrong yet.  I have the Bradley non-stick coated racks.  They have a plus. The grid is smaller than the original racks so things don't fall through as easily.  They also have a minus.  Nobody told them the properties of non-stick.  Even sprayed with "Pam"', they stick.  At least mine do so I ordered 8 of the high temp drying screens.  I'll bet you the cost of them that they solve my sticking problem.

1. About three months or so.
2. Probably not over 250.
3. None yet.
4. Run through the Dishwasher after each use.

I have used them with everything I have put in the smoker since I received them. Butts, Pastrami, Belly Bacon, chickens, jerky..

The grid is small enough to do almonds on a standard bradley rack, as long as you don't let the nuts get too close to the edge.

Wow. There's a statement... "don't let the nuts get too close to the edge" !!!  ::) ::) ::)

1.  I have had some samples for almost a year.
2.  Usually average around 210 deg.  Have the set temp up to 320 and 260 for preheats.  When loading, I leave the set temp up at 260 until the box temp gets to 210.  Bottom racks on back side will see the higher temperature.  Been meaning to test one of the samples on the grill to see how it stands up.  The screens are rated for 500 deg.
3.  No discoloration, nothing to flake that I can see.
4.  Cleanup is very easy.  I use them for everthing to lessen the clean up on the actual racks.

Recommendation, Don't waste money on non-stick coated racks.  Use the Hi-temp Screens.  If you have non-stick coated racks, only use them when you are doubling up on the racks and cover them with the screens.  The original racks clean up easier than the non-stick coated ones do.

Mr Walleye

Dito on everything Giz said!

I've used them now for a few months and they work great. I have tried the Jerky Racks and the Bradley Screens and these are far superior.

Update:

Wanted a few hot wings for lunch so thought I'd check out the screens.  Placed the wings on a cookie sheet with one of the screens on top.  Preheated the oven to 400 deg.
No problems with the screens.
Finished the wings off with a 485 deg broiler and the screens are still looking original.

Received my screens today.  3 days and at my house!  Thanks Brian, can't wait to try them out.

Yard and Pool is absolutely the best.

Thanks again Brian!!!

Gizmo got me hooked on the screens by giving me a couple of samples from when he was researching them.  Took 1 use and I ordered 8 from Yard and Pool.  If for no other reason - the clean up is much easier.

Actually those weren't samples but the real deal as they were full sized from Yard and Pool.  I though they would spark some interest and both you and Bryan would benefit from the small jesture.   :D
Now we just need to get one to La Quinta and one to Owrstrich.   ;D  ;D

Ahhh, I thought one was a higher temp screen than the other  ??? One with bigger holes?  So anyway the things are great and high on the 'want list' for Bradley Accy.
