Bad temp controller?

I just bought a new original Bradley Smoker, I went to turn it on, I started to slide the lever and the indicator light does not come on at all until it is less than 1/4" from the end on the right. When it is all the way to the right it heats up, but if I move it left at all it shuts off. I'm guessing that it isn't normal and something is wrong, but I would like a second opinion before I bug Bradley for new parts... Thanks!

Oh and I put my hand around the light so it was completely dark, so I know for sure that the light doesn't come on until almost all the way to the end...

Sounds like you have a bad board there, since you just got it give Bradley heaven a call and they will fix ya right up!

Its amazing what one can accomplish when one doesn't know what one can't do!

Thanks! Just gave them a call and they are sending me a new one.
