My folks felt sorry for us because our business has been hit so hard by the recession that in January they bought us a new tv and Dish TV to watch on it.
Well, I've become addicted to the Food Network and love just about all the shows especially the competition ones.
But what has become the highlight for us is to watch Iron Chef and hear the co-host yell out the secret ingredient.
I don't know why but we get the biggest kick out of that.  He gets all buggy-eyed and yells it out.  We play it over on the DVR because it cracks us up so much.
Is there something wrong with us?

I don't think so. I also love Iron Chef but my wife
always looks at me funny when I watch it. She
just does not understand the creativity in cooking.
Now I feel better knowing that I am not the only one
watching.

Be careful about calling yourself and EXPERT! An ex is a has-been, and a spurt is a drip under pressure!

It started to loose it's luster for me when they brought on Michael, and it has lost more luster for me when I heard that one of the chef's is pregnant and so is her partner.  It had always been a struggle for me to watch it, because my wife did not like it at all - something about eating fish eyeballs or something - I dunno.  And she rules my house.

I think I'm addicted to all the competition shows!
I even like the one where they have different pastry chefs make cakes for a client.
I am amazed with how quickly the chefs get down to business when they don't know what the "secret" ingrediant's going to be.
Chopped is kind of like that, too, with up and coming chefs.
I like Axe Men and Ice Road Truckers, too!  :D

Caribou I am right there with you. I like watching the Iron Chef Japan the best because the mystery ingredient was usually pretty exotic.

Ax Men, Dirty Jobs, and Ice Road Truckers are locked into the DVR as well!

Caribou

Now I'm all new to this Iron Chef show and I know the one I'm watching is the American version.
Where can I watch Iron Chef Japan?
I that on the Food Network, too?
Oh, I like Dirty Jobs, too!!!

It is my feeling and only a feeling that the chefs on Iron Chef have a general idea what the secret ingredient is. When it is announced there is no hesitation or discussion on what to make. They just go at it full force. I do like the show.

Brad,
Yeah, they seem to jump to it don't they!  I would spend the entire time trying to decide what to do with ingredients!  :D
Oh Caneyscud,
I love The Most Dangerous Catch, too!

And have you seen "American Loggers" its on Friday night on Discovery

Caribou

I'll have to watch that.
I've learned a lot about logging from watching Axe Men.
Logging is a huge industry here in North Idaho so it's nice to know more about what goes on.
