Brian

I too submitted but am curious as to why there will be a math test if selected. I have no problem with it, but thought it seemed odd.
I signed up before I knew about the mathmatical test.
I will be spending the rest of the night memorizing Pi to the 26th digit. ;D
or,.... perhaps I will need to convert CAN to US dollars!!!! ???
math? just dang!
oh well....maybe next time.
Does that mean we should stop induldging in Adult beverages until October 2010 when the contest is over to conserve Brain cells?
Ok I entered and booked my flight to come and pick it up. I figured it would be a nice ride back, might be a little chilly in October though :D
I hope calculators, and super computer will be allowed. ;D Or can I just bring my slide rule??? Slide rule is code for someone that is a math genious. ;)
Do you need a test rider to ensure the ride is checked out?

I won't envy that one Brian since you can't enter, at least if I win I won't.

I'll have to go back and read it again. I thought the math test was in both the Canadian & US sentences.
LQ - you told me on the phone that you have an adding machine with a tape, it does math ;D

I missed the statment that said any thing a math test (now Im in trouble) can I bring my doughter ? She's a walking calculator. Some of the home work she brings home just blows my mind, I cant even start to understand and she is doing it on paper. WOW
Well I hope is simple math, and even then I'm in trouble.
Math is math...I get it with building homes...not so much with machinery!! Different side of the brain for me!!! ;D
Been a loooooooooong time since I was in school, but luckily my wife is a math teacher. I'll get her to give me a couple of refresher courses in September. Now if I can just get that retention factor back. ;D
Contest is only open to Canadian and US residents? Hmmm.... guess my Dad is gonna have to enter on my behalf!! He's about the only guy I know in Canada that I would trust to NOT keep the darn thing if he won it for me!!!
Uh...you can trust me td... :)
Yeah, if you can't trust TLLQ, who can you trust?
ps - Yes, that's a trick question
pps - INCOMING TEABAG ALERT!!!!
Ka Honu...I'm an Irish Catholic woman from the south...if you can't trust us...dang dude you can't trust anybody...(although I do reside in California) but I have held strong to my roots...I get credit for that right? ;D ;D ;D
Not to get off the subject of math, but how may of you actually ride? And what do you ride?

I've got an '81 1100 Goldwing. Gonna ride that baby as soon as my leg decides to heal up.
Do not currently own a bike, but still have the endorsement on my license. Owned numerous street bikes over the years. In my younger days I did hill climbing, motocross, and enduro.

I hear ya. Not my favorite bagger. I'd keep it if I won it in a raffle though.
I bought the Pitbull as my brother already had the Big Dog Chopper. PitBull appealed to me a bit more.
Dad rolls in an HD '04 Ultra Classic that we had triked with a Lehman kit last year. That gets alot of looks.
Come on Indian.
Recently sold my 85 Suzuki 1200, don't have anything right now but my neighbor has an extra bike he lets me borrow some times, its a newer VTX 1300. Been shopping for a new bike, can't wait till I get another one.
Would love to enter but I dont have an American or Canadian zip code - we dont have them in the UK .
Can anyone lend me theirs so I can enter please
That is one sweet prize!

Well it's official, I have entered the contest. No worries though for the rest of you. The only luck I have is bad luck, but I can keep hoping! As for my ride, I have a couple. An 08 Ultra Classic and an 04 Vulcan Nomad.
When do they draw for the motorcycle, I need to make room for it in the garage!!
I just read 10-10-10, so I still have time to find space in my garage!
Explanation of the math test.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Skill testing questions are a legal requirement attached to many contests in Canada.
The combined effect of Sections 197 to 206 of the Criminal Code of Canada bans for-profit gaming or betting, with exceptions made for provincial lotteries, licensed casinos, and charity events. Many stores, radio stations, and other groups still wish to hold contests to encourage more purchases or increase consumer interest. A classic example is Tim Hortons' Roll up the Rim to Win, a contest that offers a chance to win with every cup of coffee purchased, with prizes ranging from doughnuts to vehicles. These organizations take advantage of the fact that the law does allow prizes to be given for games of skill, or mixed games of skill and chance. In order to make the chance-based contests legal, such games generally have mathematical skill-testing questions incorporated.
The most common form that these questions take is as an arithmetic exercise. A court decision ruled that these must contain at least three numbers to actually be skill testing; for example, a sample question might be "1 + 1 + 1" (Answer: 3). Enforcement of these rules is not very stringent, and especially for small prizes, the player may not be required to answer the skill-testing question to claim a prize. Anecdotally, getting the answer wrong is also often not an obstacle to claiming a prize. The questions are also becoming easier.[1] For contests held in the United States or other countries that are open to Canadians, the questions must also be asked of any Canadian winner.
The same section of law prohibits receiving consideration in exchange for playing the games, resulting in a related peculiarity of Canadian contests: the "free entry alternative", which is usually telegraphed by the fine print "No purchase necessary". Generally this means that it is possible to enter the contest for free by, for example, writing a letter to the entity sponsoring the contest and requesting a game piece or entry form.
Good luck and slow smoking,
Pachanga
So that means I won.
Just make sure mine is a red one when you ship it to me. I just do not do blue!
Hey Pachanga,
That was a very lucid and enlightening bit you posted. It is very much appreciated. 3. Do I win now? I'll take any color.
It's too bad that it'll be too cold to ride it when it gets here. I'll have to spend 7 or 8 months staring at it and polishing on it before it gets warm enough to ride again. By the way, I don't care what color it is....... ;D
HUH?.......... I WON !

Concur 100 percent.
Is Switzerland now included???
Wildcat...if you're interested, you can use the address of one of my businesses as your residence, then if you win I promise to release the bike to you upon your arrival here to pick it up (won't even try to ride it, but you may have to clean some drool off of it).
Thank-you for the generous offer little buddy. As a matter of fact, if I win in such a fashion, I would like to get with you and Habs and make arrangements to donate it to a forum member in need like the donations that were recently done. Don't get me wrong, I love bikes and at one point it was my only mode of transportation. I even raced bikes back in the day.
QuoteIs Switzerland now included???
Switzerland is certainly on the drop down list of countries on the entry form so I would enter! ;) :D
How about it Bradley - since I can not receive the cycle if I were to win, could I designate someone else to receive it that resides in a location where it is legal? I do have a temporary address from another member if this is more acceptable. I do not want to commit any fraud, so I need your blessing to do this. Also, if this is possible and since I have already submitted my entry (prior to knowing that I can not receive due to my residense) what would need to be done to make it happen?
O This is nice... ;D
Wildcat,
That is one seriously generous offer. Good on you and I hope you win!
KyNola
QuoteSwitzerland is certainly on the drop down list of countries on the entry form...
Thanks Manx. I had given up looking at the list. I entered but noticed that when I win it'll be a tad late in the year to go riding thru the alps ;D ;D ;D
Thanks KyNola. It is a serious offer. I look at it this way. I can't legally receive it anyway, so why not make an attempt to help out a fellow forum member in need. Unfortunately, Bradley has not commented and unless they do I can't do anything.
Hi Wildcat
Sorry for the late response I haven't checked this thread in awhile.
I cant really give you a answer to your question, I just dont know all the legal in's and out,s of these type of contests
I cant say whether or not it would be fraudulant to change your address or designate someone else to recieve it.
Brian
If it helps any, I just live one bridge away from the Canadian warehouse...I could just wander over to pick it up after my name is drawn,,,as one of my nieces would say, "just sayin"
