They closed our little school here in town last week for a couple days... 40% absent, 6 confirmed H1N1 flu cases.
So..

(I've already had a taker for some of the GermX wipes - she might be back for more)
hate to hear that squirt, sad for the kids.
Yeah, we'll see what kind of turnout we have. And it's 47 degrees now, on the way down to the high 30s.. Coats-over-costumes weather.
Squirt (with apologies to Gelett Burgess):
I never saw a purple cat;
I never hope to see one;
but I can tell you just like that;
I'd rather see than be one!

That's twice I've heard that today... I think I need to fix his
picture.He is big enough that you can sing the
Oom Paa Loom Paa Doopiidy Dee lyrics, as he is sauntering down the hallway.
1 hour 15 minutes and we have had over 75 already. Last year over 200. I bought $60 of candy. We have about 20 kids that actually live in the neighborhood. The kids show up in car loads.

We're seeing that now... Van/pickups full.
Nobody's rung my doorbell yet....and I'm fixin' to get outta here to go have a beer. Hope ya don't shed a tear. The bar's not far it is near. I bet I don't hit a deer. O my God it is my fear, that my text is not being clear. Something tells me you all will cheer, if somebody'd just knock me on my ear.
Deb, that's a lot of kids!
We're at the end of a 1/4 mile dirt road and have never had a kid come here in 12 years we've lived here :'(
The kids figure it's too far to walk for a piece of candy.
We normally take our daughter to nearest mall to trick or treat.
But she's sick, too.
Carolyn
We're having mobs and mobs now... Good!
Our daughter dressed our dog Bentley has a pirate

Degrading isn't it?
Carolyn
They won't come to my house, afraid of the dogs. get'em boy, get that trick or treater.
If I was that dog, I would run away. ;D ;D
My husband just leaned down and said to Saffron "you are so lucky puppy"
No dog costumes here.

If I were that dog I'd pee on your leg. ;D ;D ;D Poor thing.
squirt, Sorry to hear about all the sick kids. Hope they all get better soon.
They are out in droves tonight... That's a good thing.
Just had a little one (maybe 4?) come do the door squinting. I have to go to the bathroom!!!!
Go tell mom and dad! Here's some candy...
We've had a LOT of little doctors/nurses tonight (in scrubs, with stethoscope, etc.)
All had a big bottle of Purex tucked in their front pocket!
The cutest kid was the 3 yr old from next door. He put a piece of candy in my candy bowl :) He was confused with the Halloween concept. I gave it back and gave him a bunch.
The probably 16 yr old that came 15 min ago w/ no costume wasn't so cute. "Can we have a bunch of candy" , Uhh NO, he was stupid because he would have gotten a bunch because it started raining and we did not get as many kids as usual (over 100, less than 200) and have quite a bit left over.

Arrrr! That's just wrong! Maybe even more wrong than tofu.

Is that possible?
We went to our favorite hangout and told the young bartenders that you could melt Jolly Rancher candies in straight vodka.
Happy Halloween!

I'm going to spend Halloween with you & Jan next year!
I hate handing out candy, there are only 6 kids I'm interested in and they are always the first 6 (We are surrounded by little ones ;D, We are the old people at the end of our street :o ). It loses its fun after that. Probably a third of the kids we get are over 13 and probably shouldn't even be out but I don't dare not give them candy.
It was 83F here @ 2030.
We didn't see as many of the under-6 crowd, more teens than normal.

:o :o :o
Halloween is over for another year. Weather was good for kids. Got to +2C and the snow we had earlier in the day melted so it was slippery. Numbers were way down for us this year. Only a dozen or so kids which included our 17 month old grand daughter. She doesn't like candy, yet ;), but sure chowed down on the pizza we made ;D. We used to get kids coming from other parts of the city by car/van or what ever but that didn't happen this year ???. Now, back to the garage to check my elk roast.
Took the kids to the MIL's house for a little trip up and down the street. TorT is tonight here.
I know it a dy too late but happy Halloween to all
Hady
We didn't have a single kid. It was pretty warm too. We had all of the outside lights on. I just sat outside by the front door with a bucket of candy waiting for them, cleaning my handguns while I waited. ;D ;D

It's not feeling well at the moment. The host PC died, its replacement is FTP challenged and then the @#$#@ thing fell off the pole when the ty-wraps rotted.
There are not enough hours in the day.....

Mine gets squirrely sometimes as well. I use a home grown (major hack) Perl routine to parse the Oregon software's output, and then upload that to wunderground.com. I had a rain sensor, but it blew off of the fence post during the first major thunderstorm and shattered.
