Title: The Neelys - cookbook...
Post by: hal4uk on January 07, 2010, 10:47:39 PM
I bought it - over-priced - bought it anyway...
Will read this weekend.

I hurt so bad.  "A" snow blade.  Sounds like ONE part?  Don't ya think?
It comes with a thousand little pieces/parts... pins/keys/rods/etc...
Things that go underneath in places that old men ain't supposed to lay on cold concrete to find...
[/unrelated]

I'm sure it's a great book.

I had it, used it to start fires in the fire place!

It was a good book, NOT!

So let me get this straight...

You guys live close to each other, talk (in person) pretty much every day, and essentially talk back and forth here (also pretty much every day).  While some might think that a bit strange in itself, I would never make such an unsupported judgment.

I do think it odd, however, that with all that communication going on, one of you didn't discuss the purchase of an "overpriced" ($11?) cookbook before the fact with the other (especially given your shared interest in all things culinary).

Maybe it's just me being weird (It wouldn't be the first time).  Maybe not.

I think you got it abit out of whack. CRG lives in Texas and Hal4uk lives in Illinois.

... and obviously a geographically challenged and partially brain-dead turtle.  Don't know how I got the species mixed up between CRG & STC.  Adult beverages were likely involved.  My bad.

Oh well.  Darn it.
Maybe I'll just read the newpaper this weekend.

Or...  (just brainstorming here)
I could get some Reynolds wrap, a thermometer, a turtle, and...

The only question is WHY?  Do you like the show that much?

They are a bit loud/bubbly for my taste...

I'm thinking Hal needed something to get 'free super saver shipping' on Amazon, and that fit the bill.

I dunno...  Haven't even seen the show - just the promos.
And I got it at Sam's Club...

Might take it back and tell 'em I want my money back cause y'all were pickin' on me.

It is bad that Hal bought the book but Tim you know their first names!!! I couldn't even watch the show long enough to get that information!! Bela steal the remote and force you to watch it!! Sounds like a good excuse I go with it.

I know their names because of the advertising for the show. :)

I belong to a book club and forgot to decline the monthly selection. I got this book some time ago, along with a cookbook by Paula Dean's sons. I haven't looked at either of them until I saw this post, so I decided to take a look at the Neelys cookbook.

I have to say by looking at the recipes and instructions for the past few days. This looks like a really good cook book. It is not a cookbook on smoking or barbecuing or grilling, though there are some recipes that use one or more to those methods. It's a cookbook about what it is advertised to be "A Southern Family Cookbook"; filled with southern style recipes that can be mainly made in your kitchen.

I like those kind of recipe books, as well as the ones that provide the technique and science behind the recipe. That give a little informantion about thier families, some of the history behind the recipe. More recipe books are being published in that manner.
