Title: Greetings
Post by: scandall on January 18, 2010, 08:22:11 AM
Just got my BPS and have not yet taken her on her test run.  I am not sure how to monitor the temp inside the smoker.  I would appreciate any suggestions.  I do have a digital meat thermometer I will be using for my  meat however I am not sure what temp I will be smoking.  Thanks and hope to discuss my initial run.

W E L C O M E  to the Forum scandall!

I have 2 BPS units. I monitor the temp with a Maverick ET-73 remote thermometer. It allows you to monitor the smoker temp and the food temp.

I would put the smoker probe under the lowest rack of meat.

Welcome to the forum scandall. I usually just put my temp probes through the vent, but many just close the door on it.

He's running the Propane smoker.  Kind of hard to run the probes through the door on that one. ;)  Also difficult to get the vent open. :D
