Well I've got the pork butts and rubbed them with 2 types of rub, 2 local KC brands.
The first I rubbed with Jack Stack rub and the 2nd I rubbed with gates.
Here are my pics so far.
The two rubs used and the butts I got from sams club weighing in at 17.66 lbs.

Both butts put to sleep for the night in the fridge.

I plan to start smoking between 7 and 8 tomorrow, I'll update the post with more pics as I take them.
You are off and running!
If those butts are 8+ pounds each, it will take a very long time to cook (depending on Bradley temp and weather). I had a 7 pounder go 18 hours.
Enjoy.

That is part of the reason I am starting tomorrow. (we aren't eating till monday night.) I plan on smoking before bed, cooking overnight, checking up on it sunday morning and finishing sometime sunday afternoon/evening. Then pulling it and putting it in a crock pot to reheat for dinner monday.
Sounds like a good plan Sorce. It seems to have better smoke flavor after being pulled, chilled and then reheated.
Great plan. Keep us posted....with pics
Perfect plan! Don't worry, that Bradley isn't afraid of the dark... Sleep well!
I got a 8.5 pound butt for the weekend along with some Flinstone ribs (large rack of Spare ribs), and a couple racks of Baby Backs. Already drooling.
Don't forget to FTC that butt. It really makes a difference.

Holy crap you blinded me. Good luck Sorce. I see you have the assorted adult beveridges all set out and ready.
Yep, had a lot left over from wife's graduation party a couple weekends ago. And that's not even what I'm enjoying, I'm 4 Manhattans deep right now, just finished my smoke, replaced the water, rotated the racks and am good for the night.

I've got the beer (Sam Adams Summer), that means 5 delicious beers left for me, in a pan on the bottom rack. I went ahead and put my maverick probes in.
Good news, my wife neglected to tell me I had a delivery today and it was in the office. I got my bear paws. Here I was thinking I would have to use forks to pull these...
Sweet, sounds like your all decked out and set up real nice.
Those butts look really good Sorce. Wanna make real short work of pulling those butts? Get yourself one of these! http://www.porkpuller.com/
That thing really works!
Sorce,
The butts are looking great. Cant wait to see the final product. Being a newbie myself, I have smoked just a few butts and I just smoked my first brisket last night. Now you are making me want to go to the butcher shop and pick up some butts.
I read about the pork puller KyNola is talking about in TenPoint5's newsletter, which you should definitely subscribe to. I think you can just PM him and he will add you to the list. The porkpuller works great but seems to be a bit pricey. If you have a lower budget like mine try the Bear Paws Meat Handlers / Lifters. I have a pair and use them all the time.

First little piggy hit 195, camera was dead so no pictures until they emerge from FTC. I figured I would move it with my bear paws like on the picture for the bear paws. Started to try and the but started to fall apart so I just used pot holders and the aluminum foil. The other one seems to be about 8 degrees behind since they came out of their stall so it should be along pretty soon.
Those butts sure look good to me too and the inside of that smoker still looks like mine. Only smoke time can fix that and I was delivered a smoked butt yesterday (middle school cheerleader fund raiser) so no butt cooking for me any day soon.
If you pick that butt up and it falls apart like you described, you know you did it right. Nice going. I moved a butt yesterday from the smoker to a cutting board. Well I moved MOST of it. I started moving it all and just as I cleared the smoker it broke and I left about 1/3 of a butt on the patio. >:( :D
Nice job!

It's supposed to work the other way around.
You do the delivering.
;D ;D
Second finally hit 195 took about 22 hours. FTC right now.
Grabbed the first out of the cooler when that one went in, and pulled it, bone came out clean, it fell apart when I was taking the foil off. This was the one with the gates rub on it. Very tasty. And now for you enjoyment, our feature presentation.

I'm glad I got my bear paws in time for this first smoke.

Them Butts are stubborn sometimes.
Way to hang in there!
Looking very good.
Those bear paws are the bees knees.
Ahhhh drool running down my faaaace. YOUR MAKING ME HUNGRY. Very nice job Sorce
2nd butt pulled.

Both are delicious, very happy with my first smoke.
Congrats on a great first smoke.
I would get some high temp jerky screens from Yard and Pool, I put them under everything that goes in the smoker.

The stuff that stuck to the rack is the "appetizer"
They look good Sorce. The problem with smoking is the requirement to plan ahead, sometimes WAY ahead ;D
Congrats on your success with the butts.
Great BUTT
Thanks guys there were a bunch of "defective" pieces that I had to eat ahead of time. Quality control is a tough job. ;D
