Stay tuned guys. We tweaked the recipe tonight with two of the original ingredients. It dropped just a tiny bit of the salt content, lowered the sweetness ever so slightly and definitely spiked up the heat, not blow your head off hot but definitely a difference. Will be testing it this weekend on some ribs and wings. If we like what we taste we will proudly proclaim Jan's Original Dry Rub and Jan's Spicy Dry Rub.
JAN & larry
Did ya'll have a fight we need to know about? ;D
:D No sir CRG. I just give credit where it's due. The original rub recipe was a result of Jan's hard work on the internet. I helped a bit on the tweaking of the flavor, thus the name Jan's Dry Rub. For the Spicy Rub it was a combination of both of our ideas so JAN still gets 99.4% of the credit and larry gets .6%.
I'm good with that.
Well, post it up JAN and Larry. I'm sure you'll need some taste testers.
Uh oh, someones messin with perfection.
I know People have probaly messed with the Original with your blessings.
Will be interesting to see what the "tweaking" is from the Founding Mss.
Bring it ON!

I'm sure they'll nail it. ;D
Glad to hear the salt is down a tad. Think I iwll be adding some sugar to the Jna's I made last week to help offset the sugar.

Casinos thrive on the customer's
negative mathematical expectation.
Of course, if you're just going for fun (checking out the chicks) I can't
definitively quantify THAT factor.
Nevermind. Carry on.
Awrighten.

Well this is odd. 2 of my entires on this thread apparently never posted. Anyhow, we learned quickly with the original Rub that like a lot of things it is better after it has had time for the flavors to meld. I tasted the Spicy Rub again last night after it had been mixed for about 2 hours and was really liking what I tasted. Will taste it again tonight after it has had time to hang out for 24 hours. Looking forward to giving it a test drive on a bunch of wings this weekend. Will do some just with the Spicy Rub and some with the Spicy Rub combined with CT.
Picked up 4 racks of St. Louis cut ribs for this weekend too. Will be using the Spicy Rub on them as well.
Will report back on our findings as well as our likes and dislikes.
