Thinking on getting into the Android smartphone. Is there an App for the bradley fourm for the droid?
Yep... check here, this is what I use for my iPhone, but it's available for Android too:
http://www.tapatalk.com/ (http://www.tapatalk.com/)
Brian recently enabled the functionality on his end. It works pretty good for reading and making short posts. Anything longer can get tedious typing on a small device.

Yes. "Tapatalk" is an app for the iPhones, Androids and Blackberrys. (maybe some others) Works great. It downloads the forum content and reformats it so you can browse it on your phone. Images are downloaded as well as thumbnails, and you can then click on them to view in 'gallery' format.
You can post, upload pictures (they'll host them on some 3rd party site), etc.
I used mine all the time while we were in Mexico. (when I would happen upon an open WiFi connection)

ExpatCanuck beat me too it!

Actually, as far as I can tell, if you try to insert an image from your phone using Tapatalk, it tries to host it from your phone, which doesn't work so good :D. BUT, there is a Photobucket app for the Android too (http://photobucket.com/mobile/apps/android), which can be used to upload photos taken directly from your phone. You can then copy the links from that app into your Tapatalk post. It works really slick, but again you need the patience to deal with all that on a tiny device, but once you get the hang of it, it's no problem!
Huh.. This is one I posted to another forum during a Tapatalk discussion. Not sure who is actually hosting it..

Found this snippet on the Tapatalk forum.
QuoteWe are rolling out Tapatalk image hosting running on Amazon EC2. We are still working on the user agreement but it will be similar to what other free image hosting provider can provide.
We are still evaluating this service and will look into a way for user to "manage" the images and for forum owner to download the image set if they need a backup or something.
That is Amazon.com's "Cloud" hosting service. Sounds like it is still up in the air whether they will use it exclusively or not..
I can upload directly to Picasa from my phone, but I don't have a way to get the image URL to insert into a post. :(
Hey Pat are you using the Pro?
Great. Thanks for the link. Just downloaded to my blackberry. So how do I upload pics using tapatalk?

When you reply to a post, there is an 'insert' option (however you get to the menu on the BB) On my Android, it has 2 options - 'insert from gallery' or 'capture from camera'. (something along those lines)
I dont see any of those function for the blackberry. My blackberry doesnt support the image upload function. ??? :(
Any bberry users using the app out there?

From what I've read, it's only fully functional in the 'pro' version - but you can still compose a message and insert a photo in the 'free' version - just not do the final submit.
Here's what I found on their website:
Tapatalk for BlackBerry - FREE
Tapatalk for BlackBerry is currently in public beta testing. You can download it using OTA (Over-The-Air) method by entering http://tapatalk.com/bb in the BlackBerry Browser. For feature request or bug report, please submit to our community support forum.
Well, that settles it. Time to upgrade to an iPhone or a Droid! :D
(sounds like they are still working on the BBerry device support)
I would love to get a droid, but the bossman buys the phones and pays the bills...
NePaS, I just upgraded to the Droid X. WOW what a phone. It is ridiculously fast. When someone asks me about it I tell them it's more like a computer in your pocket that you can make phones call with. I don't think you will be disappointed at all. Love mine.
Ok, I most definitely stand corrected... I just tried uploading a photo again, and this time it's definitely hosted elsewhere... See screenshot:

The first time I did this, the link shown in the screenshot above was referencing the IP address of my iPhone on my local LAN... hence my post above. This is way cool now! One less step!

On my iPhone I so far have just used the Safari browser and have full functionality, so I haven't figured out what the advantage of Tapatalk would be. Can someone enlighten the clueless?

Hey BLSH, same here - I'd been using my google browser on my droid until today. THe biggest thing I noticed is that I can load images by either using my gallery or camera on my phone.
Hope this helped!
Okay, I think it makes sense. I gives you another option for loading photos from the phone, which I do by passing them up to photobucket , I guess either way works just fine.

Yes, that's the one I use on my LG Ally... (android phone)
Thanks Patrick
Is it easier to get the app using wifi
Another handy app is the "Color Flashlight". For when you are stumbling around in the dark, when the power goes out unexpectedly.. (like mine did this morning)
I tried for 45 mins to download the app. how do this? do i need to hook up phone to comp. just could not do it with phone
Like any download - depends on size of the app and speed of the connection. A good high speed internet connection is normally much faster than wifi or 3G connection. Slower is also more susceptible to timeouts and disruption.
Sometimes it 'sticks' during the download. I think their Market server gets overwhelmed... Usually after you restart the phone, it will pick back up and finish the downloads.
I just had to do that to mine to get the latest Tapatalk, Google Maps, Kayak and Pandora updates.

Go to the Marketplace and search for the app. You should just be able to click & install from there.
To review downloads in progress, click the menu (2nd button from the right) and choose 'downloads'.

For those of us that dont have the Smart phone with the flash light app. Just take a picture of a white wall. When the power goes out just call up the picture it works just fine as a light.

That works as well! I grilled wings for a party at Hal's (in the dark + rain) using that method..
Just got an HTC Desire (first ever smart phone, got my 12 year old son to help me set it up! ;) ) and came across this thread.
Probably a stupid question to many but if you install tapatalk do you have to access the smoker forum via tapatalk itself to get the benefits or does it automatically work in background if you access the forum through google for example? :-[ ???
