My advice on this project is that you better get it done well before a whole lot of other ones or momma won't be happy. And you know that when momma ain't happy nobodys happy. :o

Well...
Let me just say THIS:
It wuzn't MY idea to tear out a perfectly functional kitchen.
HHHHHMmmmm.
Awrighten.
You've done the Hard part, the rest is easy. ;D
Looking good Hal.
Hurry up and finish so you can come play!
Yeah and you may think you are right to but that only proves how wrong you are. I have a beer cozy that says "If a man says something in the woods and their are no women around to hear him, is he still wrong" words to live by. ;D

Indoor smoking areas.
Which corner is the Stumps going to go in with the new chimney you'll be installing?
Good snag Pat, those cab's will look brand new in your Man-Cave!
And for Dufus I meant Hal, can't wait to see the finish pic's.
You done yet? ;)
im sorry for taking your cabinets, I needed more storage ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
What a project! Have fun with it Hal - you'll love it when it's done.
I did that once, well actually much more than a kitchen. I lived the Money Pit experience, including the contractor telling me "two weeks" when he started, and his crew was still living with me six weeks later. That was before the movie came out. Never again (he said with great hope).
Curse you, hal!!! I lived through a kitchen remodel and swore to never let it happen again about 20 years ago. So why aren't I laughing? Because, damn fool that I am, I'm going to do it again in a few weeks. Now I not only have to do it myself, but have to be reminded of how ugly it is even before the fact when I'm on the forum trying to forget about it.
And what is so hard about a kitchen revovation! It's such a small thing in the scheme of things. Ya'll act like you've never seen construction before! Construction is a way of life! We like to drive owners crazy. ;D ;D ;D ;D
So that's where Squirt is going to put all his sauce, rubs and spices....

The before and after are
both ok.
It's that $%*#! in the middle that $%&*$!!!
New cabinets came today!
I'm not ready to put them in yet (pesky job thingie has me behind).
The two guys that delivered the cabinets had one more stop and then they were heading home to CHICAGO...
Good luck with
that, boyz... It's just a BLIZZARD.
Heck, I got two inches of snow
indoors while they were bringing them in.
You should post some pics of the last kitchen tearout...

The one I'm doing now is
nothing like that one (not contemporary)
I might have something.. Let me look. (while the power is back on and somewhat stable)
So anyway...
Today (like almost every day during a remodel) I had to make a run to Lowe's.
Gonna be doing a LOT of trim, and (among other things) I needed a stand for the miter saw.
Well, it was crazy warm... almost summer-like... so I took the roadster!

Ok... I'm lying. It was colder than a welldigger's @$$ out today.
The bus is in the shop, and a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.
I literally saw people in their vehicles pointing and laughing at me.
Good thing I'm not sensitive. :-\
Good Gosh!
You are the Man!
And you think they were pointing and laughing at you because on a very cold day you were riding around with the top down ? ;) ;D
It's a tough job, but a man has to do what a man has to do, and you are the man !
;D
If you need to haul anything on Monday, come to LRS and get my truck. The 100+ pounds of ice and snow should be melted out of the back of it by then....

Hey Ken Tuck, it's about time something starts going up. ;D
Nice!
WOW! I am impressed.
Great going Hal.
Love those cabinet eyeballs!!! Very kool...looks great so far!
You still need the 'angelic choir' sounds playing when you open the pantry doors..
Ummm... yeahhhhhhhh... I'm working on that...
But, I did get the "angelic closers" mounted...

What a pain... I special ordered the pantries "inverted" and "cut down" (21" deep)...
Got (standard) 24" deep shelf kits. I'm sure the neighbors loved hearing the TABLE SAW tonight.
European closers...nice Hal...

Just send them some brisket, pulled pork, or ribs over - they'll forget about the saw!
Hal, if that bothers them then they are lucky they didn't live next to use. My dad renovated our basement with his best drinking buddy when I was a just a teenager. They were drinking and working all weekend. When My dad does things like this he is not your average renovator. He had chainsaws screamin' at three in the morning and powernailers. We were so loud the neighbor woke up. When he come over to see what was going on he ended up with a hammer in one hand and a glass in the other. They drank hard and really did the same work three or four times. But if you were unfortunate enough to pass out (which my dad did) you might end up with your boots nailed to the floor( while your feet were still in them, like my dad did). You should have seen his face when he woke and tried to get up. It was very funny but the best part was when he tried to get them off cause his buddy got so close to his skin that he actually nailed threw the socks.
I got a quick look at Hal's new kitchen progress today... It's gonna be amazing.
Talk about "things in boxes". Oh My!

Hey Hal, any issue with heat from the stereo equip in the cabinet ?
Yep. I can feel the heat when I open the door, but it doesn't seem to have much affect/transfer on the upper section. I think enough heat escapes through the 1/8" gap around the door (due to the bumpers), that it's not a
serious issue (for anything other than maybe the stereo itself).
I think we're gonna have to start caling the WILDCAT the "Turtle"...
And call the TURTLE the "Wildcat"...
(I done been whooped bad... But I'm still crawlin'...)
Countertops went in today...

Ross---yeah, It's a
beast (hood
and range going under)-- and, honestly, it's serious "overkill" --but, reason is: The kitchen ain't really very big, and Mrs wanted
double ovens. Would have been (way) cheaper to do a double oven
stack (instead of beast range w/2 ovens), but that would have eaten up
counterspace. I was on a mission to GAIN counterspace. On the up-side, I did get a
floor model range, so saved a few bucks there. Anyhow, the hood/range still blew the livin' daylights outta the budget, but it's done now and (the important thing)
momma's happy... ;D
Awrighten.
NICE! When do we get to mess it up??
That range hood is a beast... I got a shot of the inside last time I was there. Twin turbos!

It's a Thermador - floor model so I saved a good chunk on it...
But, I really like the Thermador burners -- they have a star pattern so they put out a lot more BTUs when you need it (like when boiling water)
And, they have a really LOW mode too.
