... because mine looks pretty grim at the moment. With crumbling countertops and a pretty bad design, it wasn't all that great to begin with ...

... but we took some stuff out...
... and ripped out the floor and ceiling...
...and then cut some holes...

In the meantime, we've moved the essentials into the garage and are rotating between eating all that prepared stuff in the freezer (soups, pulled pork, chili, pasta sauce, etc.) and using the SRG & RED to whack out fast protein on demand.

Plan to start the buildout tomorrow with plumber and electrician doing their things over the next several days, then cabinets & ceiling next week followed by countertops and floor. With luck, I'll be doing corned beef & cabbage in a new kitchen by St. Patrick's Day. In the meantime, hal, send me yours.
I remember this a few years ago. We didn't really use the garage too much. The grill outisde along with a griddle got the lions share of work.
Painful process but I am sure will be well worth it
We did a couple of years ago. 1 month from start to finish. I'll try a post some pictures later.
Given your location, I'd trade Hal's kitchen for yours. Hell, I'd trade it for your garage version.
Then I would have more time to spend with my buddies

Are we having Fun yet?
I did it too, 2 years ago.
When it is over, it will be your favorite room.
Looking Good!
Last time I did this (in previous house) I swore I'd never again live in a house while the kitchen was being renovated. Only 20 years and the memory wasn't strong enough to keep me from doing it again. What was I thinking?
CRG - The blonde is movable but the liquor cabinet is not in the kitchen. So much for "favorite room" status.
Me Too!
I'm buying my Grandparents house and remodeling it for our daughter and Grandson. The kitchen is already ripped out and the new cabinets are due to be delivered on Sat. I'll have to stack them in the living room for now because I'm putting in a new kitchen floor first. Fun, fun! ;D
What blonde? I didn't see a blonde! :D

New floor (Travertine) is going in after cabinets/before appliances here. Thought that was the way it was done. Am I screwing up?
That's the way it's done here too, and was in all my previous houses.
I say add a vent for the Bradley, that way you would have something no-one else has an indoor smoker! :D Add a bigger vent then you could nhave a Big Easy in there as well!

No, you're doing it right...
The travertine should last forever, but if you ever want to change the floor WITHOUT gutting the kitchen again... ;)
I'm using much of my old "footprint", but busting out (and fixing) tile where changes are.
(So that the tile, again, goes
around all the cabinetry)
All I have is IN is the new pantry(s) and the range hood.
Big mess besides that.
Pantry..
(used to be a kitchen desk here)

I'll be 63 next week and I plan on dying in this house sometime down the road (really far down the road). Barring some sort of disaster, this is ABSOLUTELY the LAST time I will ever remodel a kitchen.

Heck, I'm 50, and I ain't NEVER doing this again. NEVER EVER. I don't care if pigs DO fly. Ain't gonna happen.
When we did ours, the only thing we did was move the appliances. Everything went in the garage except the fridge. That we put in the dining room. Needed the ice cubes close by ;). The cabinet makers did or arranged for everything. Here is a quick pick after some of the demolition
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v481/candlelake/Picture507.jpg). Just the old floor had to be removed.
The cabinets arrived and good thing the installer knew where everthing went

Lastly the finished product. It now has pot lighting, under counter lighting, new location for the fridge and stove, a pantry, and a peninsula

Nice, RAF! I like the way the cabinets are "connected" over the sink and the continous crown.
I'm doing that as well. I think it looks a lot better (finished) that way.
Is that a "garden" window?
Nice indeed! Looks might nice.

It's just a bay window. Another one in the dining rooms. My wife used to try and grow herbs in there as the windows face the south. She doesn't have a green thumb and can't seem to grow anything. I guess that's why they sell herbs in the stores.
