Just a reminder to all. The Midwest Smoke Out will be August 20th and will be held in Cascade, Iowa. (My House) The Smoke out is open to all, just let us know if you are planning on attending. That way I can get an idea of how much food to have on hand. I can also give you directions on how to get here. If you need some place to stay there are a couple hotels in neighboring towns.
- The Number to the Dyersville Comfort Inn is 563-875-7700. I called them this morning on my way home from work. The room rate for that weekend is $104.49 + Tax. As of right now they have 28 rooms available. You can call and reserve a room on your card. If you tell them you are with the Bradley Smokers Midwest Smokeout they will do there best to group everyone together. They don't actually assign rooms until you are physically present and checking in. This way you can all be in the same area. (Nepas stayed there when he visited last fall clean rooms and friendly people)
- There is also another hotel option that is just a little further away about a 15 minute drive. The Americinn the rates there for a room with 2 queen beds is $95 +tax. Here is their link if your interested. http://www.americinn.com/hotels/IA/Peosta
There are also several place to stay in Dubuque. Which is about 25 miles from the house.
- If your wanting to camp, this is just right outside of town. It is about a 5 minute drive from the house.
http://www.riverviewridgecampgrounds.com/ Very nice campground they have been doing a lot of upgrades to the grounds. 4 wheeler trails and horsetrails if you have them and canoeing tubing.
Checking my notes I think the following MAY be in attendance, There is a few that have said they will definitely be here.

Couple of Bradleys
At least 1 Pellet Pooper
Couple of SRGs/TBEs
Perhaps a Backwoods something-or-another
And a combine rim burn pit and a pitchfork, if you are so inclined..
Hal and I will be up with Starnes, Soileau's, some Nepas sausage & sticks, a couple tri-tips, some Paducah Boudin, some coveted Iceman's Sop'n Sauce, and a wee bit of Wayne Jacobs Andouille - straight from New Orleans. (LaPlace, actually)
Oh, and some Midwest themed Piggly Wiggly swag.. ;D
I got dibs on the combine rim. ::)

I got some ribs and some butts in the freezer and I have an order in for some briskets to be delivered. Miss Rachel said she wants to make some bacon for the Smoke Out. I have heard that she will also be getting schooled on how to make bread and buns using CRG's bread starter. Miss Rachel said she would also make some snack sticks and summer sausage. I may even get CRG to make up some of the Cilantro Tater Salad.
TICK TOCK ;D

Only 8 more days to get in on the group rate. If your for sure coming send me a PM so I can get a good head count for food. Of course it aint like we is gonna run out or anything. Standing rule at my house if you walk away from the table hungry, It's your own damn fault!
Pondering this one.
Chris,
I just got home from the Dr. office and it looks like I'll have to miss this years SO. I was really looking forward to it.
It turns out my surgery is going to be more than I expected and it will be Tue after the SO. So I'm going to have to do everything I can that weekend cause after the surgery I will not be doing anything for about a month. I thought a small cut on the wrist, an ace bandage and back to work in a couple weeks, WRONG. Surgery on the wrist AND elbow, full arm cast for 2-3 weeks, then therapy and then do the other side. Looks like I'll be off work at least three months depending on how it goes. So maybe I can make it next year. ???
Hope everyone has a great time, I know the food will be great. :)
Talked to Mrs nepas again.
Cant make it :'(
That sucks in more ways than one Greg. We will post a bunch of pictures for you then.
Do I need to talk to her Rick. Maybe I can con her into letting you come play with the big kids!! ;D

I thinks me in da dog house for being bad. I was looking at my KCBS Bullsheet and said WOW NICE SMOKER. It was immediately followed by I DONT THINK SO :D ;D
Since I finally brought Momma on board as to the Smoke Out happening. (I told her on the way to the NEPA SO before someone else told her) She has really gotten into the swing of things. Gonna make my life hell for the next 5-6 weeks but I know it will all work out without a hitch. Momma informed me that one store had Pepsi and Coke products on sale 4 12 packs for $9. Not Bad, then she says that she also used a coupon from our local store which made them 4 for $6. Even Better. She said she had the kids help her stock up for the Smoke Out. I don't think we will run out of Soda Pop. Do you??

I am good for some beers. The hard stuff would be too hard to make sure I got the right kind for the right person. So I will stick with Busch Light, Some Miller lite, and maybe some Coors.

For all us underprivileged "have-nots" I would ask one favor of all you privileged folk that are going to the smokeout. See if you can get one post dedicated to smokeout pics where all can post. That where we who must live vicariously through you have only one place to go to make sure we see all the pictures.

You've obviously had no experience with STC and his "boomer" camera. That boy takes pics of everything! If you do something that you want "to stay at the Smokeout," be prepared to pay STC the big bucks 'cause he'll damn sure have a picture of it.

Some of what I'm packing started in NEPA, then traveled down through GA and across FL and Bama to NOLA. After some parking garage bartering, it headed North to Illinois in the trunk of MrsSTCs car. After a short vacation in my garage spice cabinet, it will be headed for Northern I-o-way and scattered into the 4 winds.
Larry, I hope you are packing all of your clothes in a gallon ziplock bag. That's about all the room we will have in the cabin!

Looking at a 1 or 1:30 arrival in Omaha then.
Might be a little later than that Tim he is coming straight up 75 to avoid some of the flood damaged roads

This was a great weekend! We had a blast! It was a pleasure and a privilege to meet everyone!
On a personal note, I truly enjoyed seeing Scott meet his equal in Curt. Whatever Scott dished out, Curt dished back!
:):):):):)
Mrs Seemore
P.S. we will get our pictures together and post them some time this week.
Heck I was just getting warmed up with the dishing. :D
Had a great time meetin everybody in person, I tried to make sure I talked to everyone.
Thanks Chris for the hospitality, and thanks to y'all that brought gifts for the garb bag type thing on the table. :o
Talked with the Bradley reps about makin the Bradley slightly better too. ;)
Round trip from Paducah KY to Springfield IL to Cascade IA, 980 miles for me.
As for the smoked nuts, they were the Seemore's world famous blazing pistachios. I can assure you there were none left because I grabbed a ziplock bag and snuck out with what was left. OMG, those are so stinking good I will definitely be making a batch of them.

Yeah you got that right.
I was like a tree rat packing my mouth with em ;D
I'd just like to say a BIG thank you to Chris and Vickie and all of you Bradley Smokers for the invitation to the Midwest Smoke Out II. You really made a non-Bradley owner feel very welcome. You're a great bunch of folks and you really know how put on one heck of an outing. I had an outstanding time, the food was just awesome, the camaraderie was second to none, and you Bradley folks should be very proud of your group.
I also got to meet Nepas! I've been wanting to meet my sausage Guru for quite sometime, and guess what? He's exactly how I had him pictured! Just a good down to earth, fun guy, with some great stories!
Again, thank you everyone, very much for a terrific time, and especially to Chris and Vickie for putting in all the hard work and planning into hosting this extremely successful event.

Great to meet you ShortEnd! Stick around and hang with us... We've got a "Non-Bradley Equipment" section that we post in quite a bit for cooks outside of the Bradley product line.
Ok We need to find out who brought the container with the cream cheese/chipped beef/Onion dip in it. I need to know who it belongs to so I can get it sent back and find out what the recipe for the dip is. If it belongs to you let me know so we can send back the container.
If you are going to fill it with goodies then it is my container, but I forgot the recipe of what was in it. ;D ;D ;D Oh and just forget the part where I wasn't at the someout. ;) ;)
I may be mistaken, but it could possibly belong to the other Tim that was there...and his wife. I vaguely remember them saying something about leaving a dish that hadn't been emptied and they'd arrange a trip to pick it up at a later date.

Good memory Tim. The dish belonged to Tim and Karen.
