Yeah Gary
I'm going to do the same thing.
Everyone on the eastern seaboard take care.
Man, that Irene looks nasty.
Irene just sounds mean. ;D
You East Coasters heed the warnings and stay safe.
I hope you guys got generators to run those fridges.
Who all do we have that is in the path of that bitch? That is a large storm, very large. Not quite as large as Katrina but still very large nonetheless. Ever since Katrina I have been even more interested in hurricanes and have a huge respect for their destructive abilities.
You guys be safe over there.

Just cancelled my flight for Sunday 2 pm from Hartford, CT to Baltimore..........thinking it's not a good time to be in a plane.
i ain't scared of a little storm. of course i live further away than the rest do. ;D
I hope all is well over there!!!
Nepas and all you guys there out East, stay safe. Geez, first Earthquakes, now Hurricanes. You folks are kinda gettin' kicked around a bit out there. Batton down the hatches and get plenty of provisions. Wish you all the best. God willing, you'll all ride this nasty one out in good shape. We're pullin' for ya, and let us know all is well, when she blows over.
I have a extra 6500/8000 Watt brand new generator in the garage if someone needs it and is going that way. I have 3 generators and have this one just sitting with less then 1 hour on it. Full of fuel and been started every 3 months. Good luck to all and keep those smokers in a safe place.
Old Irene is getting ready...

I passed a caravan of Ameren Energy bucket trucks out of St Louis this morning. They were heading around Springfield and presumably East..

You Guys find cover.
Will be watching and praying everyone is safe.
My two boys are currently on holiday in Florida (they have a long shopping list of goodies for me!)and for a while the tracking showed it may hit there.... made me rather nervous for a time.
Fortunately for them that is not the case but to all those on the US East coast that are likely to be affected when Irene makes landfall then take good care and stay safe.
This is gonna be an "Historic" storm, just read a artical and it says there will be hurricane force winds that will extend 90 miles and tropical force winds 290 miles out form the center.
Take cover and be safe my friends.
Extreme Irene...dang that's a tongue twister!
On a serious note - you guys be careful.
Well Pat and I have our heads down and waiting, we took the smokers and grill in the garage, checked the water supply flashlights, propane tanks full, generator fueled, batterys on three laptop charged, and we have enough smoked product to last a real long time...lol..
I just checked on the Lady Twister and it looks like she may
stabilize before hitting land. The winds have died down some
but she still is a force to be reckon with.
I wish everyone the best of luck and please be safe...these storms are very unpredictable!
We got lucky down here in Miami.

We were set up abou 20 miles from Philly, we are tore down already, gonna stay put till Monday am
Well, the eye is past Camp Lejeune and my mom/sister down there. Heavy rain and winds but as best they can tell so far no crazy damage. They lost power about an hour or so ago. On it's way towards me and it's been raining almost non-stop for a couple hours now.

Everybody still OK so far?
Well we are just now getting some of the outer bands of rain, tonight and tomorrow a whole different story, we are just waiting to see just how much damage this storm brings...I hope not much...
Northern, NY here. Just across the pond from VT. It is beautiful here at the moment..., but the predictions for tomorrow are not looking good. Trying to pull everything that can fly into the garage, or house. Hope all you folks to the East are faring OK.
Jeff
Just some bands of rain here so far. Landfall is scheduled here for tomorrow morning. Looks like we'll be within 20-30 miles of the eye; we'll see. The generator will hopefully start.
My daughter just went to several grocery stores. All out of water, milk, bread, eggs, batteries, etc. The gas stations all have long lines.
Sitting in Orlando airport on the way back from Disney. Going to charlotte then to Albany NY. So far were still on time. Lets see what happens when we get to NC.
All of you that are in the path of Irene please be safe! Yesterday driving home from Orlando there was caravan after caravan of power company tucks headed north. There was also caravans of tree trimming companies headed north. South Florida has had their share of hurricanes and we always were glad to see the power company trucks and tree trimming trucks from out of State come to help get the power back. So happy that we can pay the favors back a bit.

X2 on the help. I live south of houston tx 15 miles from the gulf. I hate hurricane season. Like you said, it's good to see the trucks rolling in from other states to help.

Rain coming down pretty good here at carnie corral, not too windy yet, we have all the house trailers blocked in with semis
Sent and received a text from Miss Deb. All is good for right now. Just waiting for the eye to pass.
Same with Nepas His reply High winds and rain Power has been out for a couple of hours.
Hang in there folks were pulling for you!!
checking in... windy and raining, no damage here that I can see - trees, power lines down across the state. They are reporting right now that we are probably over the worst of it that it has downgraded to a tropical storm. Tornado watches are off. We still have power at this point though alot of the state is out. Arnie's town is about 50%.
Bryan, Nepas , Art -- you guys ok?
Well, we made it through just fine. Lots of rain, whole bunch of leaves and small branches. Only lost power for about 5 hours, cut out about 10 seconds after the wife got done whipping up dinner. All in all about as good a hurricane as one could hope for with the eye passing just a few miles away.
Hope the rest of ya fair as well!
Glad to hear you made it through undscathed DC.
Was watching the weather map and it appeared Rick's area was getting lots and lots of rain. Same with G9.
Deb, good to know you guys are good. Same with you Coonass. Glad to know you're OK.
Checking in from nepa
So far we have 5" of rain and my weather station clocked wind gusts of 67mph. Very windy right now and power just came back on in the last 10 mins. So far no damage just a ton of leaves in the pool.
Gary, greg, deb, carnie1, arnie, habs and the rest of the NE family...Y'all ok out there.
NC Army kids all good
Looks like it's nearly over except for some wind. I don't see any damage around the yard. We had about 7 inches of rain.
We had a few power flicks and it finally went out around 6 AM. I have the generator running for the house. The computer and phone is on a UPS, now charging. There are over 600,000 without power in Connecticut. They're estimating days for restoration. At least the coffee machine is working :)

the CT light & power map is awful dark (pun intended)..... it was going up 100,000 per hour throughout the morning. I think they said we have more power outages than NJ
Lots of trees down all over the state and water everywhere - all the major rivers are flooding & Long Island Sound looks like the Atlantic.
At this point we are part of the lucky few that still have power.
glad to hear things are calming down and so far everyones doing well. it never got close enough to me so alls good here. hope everyone faired as well that live closer to the coast. Al, Deb, Tony you ok?
Hi y'all....
pat and I are ok..lots of rain and real nasty wind..we lost power about 3am and it's still out we lost the Internet this morning....We are using my iPad to get this message out. via ATT..we lost some shingles off the roof. But that's minor compared to some of the homes around town...
Take care... Gary and Pat
Rick, Arnie, Deb and Gary, good to hear you guys are all OK.

Power still out here since 6 AM Sunday. 79% of the town is still out of power. Internet went out yesterday but is back again. The generator is guzzling gas :'(
Wings on the grill last night, ribs on the pellet cooker tonight. Maybe this isn't so bad :D

Very little damage in my immediate area, and lost power for two days. The Berkshire and Taconic Mountain ranges may have provide the buffer for my area as the storm stayed on the east side of the mountain ranges. Winds were around 20 - 30 mph with gust of 40 - 50 mph; with 4.65" of rain. Areas west of me are suffering from flooding and flash floods, they got twice the amount of rain. A lot of roads and bridges washed out. East of me, especially in Vermont, they really got hit bad with torrential rains. Many of their roads are washed out, bridges down, and historic cover bridges have bee destroyed.
We got hammered here and all the towns around me are really bad. I got lucky and had only minimal damage. Most of the people around me lost everything. Been helping out around town cleaning up. It looks worse than a war zone. Most of the roads are still closed due to washouts and trees. One town over from here, there are houses that washed into the streets.
