Title: Road Trip In the Morning
Post by: classicrockgriller on September 06, 2011, 08:21:50 PM
I really like Kevin A's Westinghouse Roaster and been looking for one.

I found a couple that need more work than what I really wanted to do.

Today I found this one.

After a couple of PM's to Kevin, I called the guy and got him down a little.

Gonna bring it on Home. Thanks for your help Kevin!

Now I need to learn how to make sausage like him.

One of my better purchases.  ;)

My wife really likes this unit & plans on roasting the Thanksgiving turkey (it'll hold an 18-pounder).
I like it not just for the retro-vibe, but the fact it holds about 10-12 pounds of links and keeps a nice steady temp.

Boatload of brats @ 165°.....

you continue to torture me with pictures of that thing. I am still looking hard for some version of it.

If you want to save your self some problems I would suggest the you dip the connection where the wire goes into the back of your temp. probe in some sort of dip and grip or rubberized sealant. Sooner or later you are going to slip and that thing is going to take a dunk and if you don't keep the water out of this joint it will be shot. I have done all of mine and have accidentally given them a dip with out any ill affects.

Well I got it!

9 hour road trip with a couple of stops here and there.

Passed thru the dense smoke from the big Texas Fire in Bastrop.

Seen LOTS of burnt areas scattered everywhere along the drive.

Duly noted, kirby. It's one of the things on my to-do list for all my 'deep-water' probes.

Nepas— I've seen these things priced from about $35 (about what I paid; like-new; complete with broiler pan, rack, and the state-of-the-art analog timer clock  ;D) up to $175— some in 'like-new' condition & some looking every bit of 60+years old.  Good luck to the Harrisburg fella asking $400 (!!!).

;D You know how late I get started sometimes.

Though this might help me to finish at a decent time.

MOST of my sausage will be finished in the big smoker.

I got this for back up. ;D

I can't even find a store to buy a new one up here in the Great White North.
Looks like I might have to do some cross border smuggling, I mean shopping ::)

so when you going to try out the new hot tube, need pics, Kevin looks like your roaster may be safe from someone borrowing it.
