I have been looking on Craigs List for an electric turkey roaster for months and finally found one in my city. They wanted $25 for it and said they only used it once. I only drive my truck on Sunday's too ;D
So I calls them up and ask it they will take $20 for it. Yes they tells me. I say I will be there Friday afternoon to picks it up as I am in Key West for work.
I drives home today and drives over to pick it up. Looks it over and plugs it in and she gets hot so that is a good sign. I says where is the basket. She says it never came with a basket. I says the box says it comes with a basket. She says it never came with a basket. I says, I wonder how you get the turkey out if there is no basket. She says she only used it for a party and never had a turkey in it and it didn't have a basket. :o
I says a basket would sure be handy to have to get a turkey out and she says she will take $5 off it cause the basket is gone. I whips out my wad of bills and pay her a $5 and a $10 and walk away with a big smile on me face.
What do I need a basket for anyway? I am doing sausage and I gots a nice pair of tongs to pull them out with. This model sells between $60 and $70 in the store so I am a thinkin that I got a pretty sweet deal.
This is a 18 quart roaster and she will hold my lengths of Summer sausage. I am one happy camper.

Good scoop for sure
I'm old school. Would much rather taste the smoky goodness then wash it all off or fat it out.
For emergencies :o

great buy, now just find out where to set the dial with it full of water to get 160*. mine is just barely on.
great deal
Has anybody tried running one of these thru your PID.
Might want to use the meat probe instead of the small
temp probe.

I am not sure how many watts this roaster carries. Someone on here in another thread (wish I could remember) said they run theirs with the PID. I think Kirby suggested to seal the probes just in case it slips into the water. I will have a bit of time today to take it out of the box and play with it. Will hook up the PID and see if it will work. Hoping that I don't blow up my PID. ;D
They do make an immersable probe for the Auber. I was thinking about that my self
The roaster I have holds a constant temp without an PID.
Just sayin. ;D

Yep, you is correct. I just finished my test run. Filled it up with water and cranked up to get the temp up and after it got to the 160 degree area I backed the control off to just under 200 degrees and she held 160 for 2 hours no problem.
So used to using a PID to maintain temps in the Bradley I guess :o

You may be recalling one of my posts. In that post I was not referring to an electric roaster. I was describing the setup I use; which is a stock pot with water, heated by a hot plate, and I use my DigiQ II to control the hot plate.

Did ya mark the roaster with a perment marker where that sweet spot of 160 is?
Yep, Got her marked and will be ready to go.

Sweet.
Now its time to make some stuff to cook in that bad boy. ;)
Temps in my roaster are pretty constant, so never really felt the need to use a PID, etc. Just a reliable easy-to-read thermometer so I can keep an eye on things. Poaches usually last less than an hour most times.

I will give the roaster a work out this weekend. Planning on making those Asian Chicken Sausages that Kevin has been making. Really looking forward to trying them.
