<gag> <barf>
I want to set up out side one of them and hand out real rib samples.
We tried them nasties a long time ago and ended up drinking bilge water to get the taste out of our mouths...lol
I kinda feel sorry for people that bike into that and think "this is pretty good"
"Put the McRib down and slowly back away!"

bilge water. haven't heard that phrase for along time. you navy or coast guard?
My uncle loves the McRib. Every time it comes out he will buy 20 of them then put them in the freezer to eat later :o

Navy here.
I can vouch first hand that them McRibs is a nasty hunk of tasteless meat covered in a McFunky BBQ sauce with raw onions and two Trademark pickle slices. Today I had my first and last McRib. I must now go to confession for my McSins ;D

I think you need a walk-in smoker confessional for that one!

Uh... Yeah...

Uhhh...... Heres a piece of the article.
Ooof. What's the meat made of?
Pig innards and plenty of salt. Typically, "restructured meat product" includes pig bits like tripe, heart, and scalded stomach, says Whet Moser at Chicago Magazine, citing a 1995 article by Robert Mandigo, a professor at the University of Nebraska. These parts are cooked and blended with salt and water to extract salt-soluble proteins, which act as a "glue" that helps bind the reshaped meat together.
And this is just the "meat part of it" there's more to the bread.

Kind of thought they were like the box of burgers from Aldis or such. Lots of fillers and little meat. I have took those and added sauce for my grand kids. They love MC rib... Kids!
For the convenience McRibs are pretty good and a decent value. Wash one or two down with an eggnog shake during the holidays and maybe some salty fries. I know the taste doesn't come close to what I can do with my OBS but I don't have to wait 6 hours for a McRib, either. Just talking about them makes me want to go out and get a sack for the weekend.
yes I must come out of the closet --I get the McRib when I go to McDonalds. Is there a 12 step program on this?
Looks like GR and I are in the same boat. I like the McRib. Doesn't bother me one bit that it has tripe and scalded stomach in it.
I tried the McRib once years ago when they first came out. Have not had another one since. I would get a fish sandwich if going to Mickey D's.
The McRib thread earlier this morning got me longing for some all day long. I drove 3 miles to my local McDonald's this evening and picked up a couple. If you buy a McRib value meal you can get a second McRib for $1. I already ate them both. ;D
Not much to look at but for the price they ain't bad. No holiday eggnog shakes available yet.

I know it's not pretty but for the price and the convenience it was pretty good. I'll arrange the onions a little better than they did at McDonalds the next time and add some fries. ;)
OK does anybody have a recipe to make these things? I have had them from the locker plant made with venison and wouldn't mind trying to make some myself.
Just plan . . . .

Okay, here's a better one with fries after another visit this afternoon. I drank the value meal soda (what's a soda - we call it 'pop') before I left the restaurant so I had to get out an imitation Dr. Pepper.

Lord knows I'd eat a mountain of Krystal burgers (and who knows what the heck is in THAT), but the McRib...
I figger the less I have, the more that's left for y'all.

No but I'm sure what ever you throw together will be better and better for you. LOL Venison and pork would be a good beginning.

If that is like a White Castle, I could pound down a sack of those in me younger days! Never had a Krystal.
Hi my name is snellysmokesem and I am a McRib-Aholic... I love the McRib and eat sever of them every McRib season. Sure nothing beat a slab (or 3) of smoked baby backs but for a few bucks at lunch time during the work day, you cant beat 'em. I seriously still remember the first McRib my dad brought home to me when I was like 6. Loved it then and love it now. I usually post something on facebook every McRib season and the majority of the comments (like on here) are negative, but I am not ashamed! I love love you McRib!
Talk about coming out of the closet, this thread is a stampede. We probably have enough to start a support group. We can meet at McDonald's. I think the guy that buys them and freezes them should be the leader.

Sounds like a good Winter Mini-ICB topic..
"DIY McRib"
I used to eat these when I was a kid (McD's was a "special occasion" back then, as the closest one was 45 miles away).

The only problem is that in this case you would really need to taste them in order to pick a winner.
From what I can remember them McRibs aint bad...............there sauce sucked though. ;D
But that was about 15 years ago. ::)

Tell me when and where... There are two types of people in this world. Those that LOVE the McRib and those that HATE the McRib.... To all you haters out there, what did McRib ever do to you! :P :P :P :P
On Saturday as I was slaving away painting our bedroom to make the SOWMBO happy she surprised me with that saucey goodness for lunch. It must have been made by some stoned 16 year old who was too worried about where the party was at saturday night then preparing my bbq goodness because it was barely sauced and just thrown together. It may have been the worst McRib I have ever had, but it was still damn good!
;D :P :o
QuoteTo all you haters out there, what did McRib ever do to you!
It touched my tastebuds and about killed them. ;) ;D
Personally, until this thread showed up, I did not know that they sold imitation ribs. I have only been in a McDonald's about 10 times in my life (I'm now 60) and the last time was about 20 years ago when my daughter was young. I did go through the drive through about 8 years ago for an Egg McMuffin (the only thing in McDonald's I ever liked.

Close but no cigar. Krystals have mustard and a better pickle on them. I've got a Krystal 4 blocks from the house and a White Castle 5 or 6 blocks from the house in another direction. Let's just say I am intimately familiar with both!
Found this article, and thought y'all would want to read it...
