So I'm new to the whole smoking world, never really thought I'd ever be a member. Alllll that changed a couple weeks ago. I went to a bacon festival here in Iowa (mmmmm bacon.....). One of the lectures was how to make your own bacon, I was HOOKED! I started looking at smokers immediately (well once the swelling in my feet went down!). Finally decided on a Bradley 4 rack digital and was "given" it as an early bday present from my significant other. I have now used once to make chicken and plan on making pork tonight. Yes the plan is eventually to make bacon, but I'm still on the hunt for pork belly. So that's my story, and I'm sticking to it :)
Welcome. And congrats on the smoker

Welcome! Nothing like your own homemade bacon. Check out some of the recipes on http://www.susanminor.org/forums/ you can't go wrong starting there. Ask questions, post pictures!
Welcome to the forum. You will love this place. A great bunch of folks from around the world.
Welcome! Sounds like you married a real keeper! Maybe try hillbilly or Buckboard bacon first. It's pretty easy and very good! Also less fat. I did it for my wife and now she prefers it over any other including belly bacon.
Give Habenero's Canadian Back Bacon. It is to die for.
Hello and welcome to a really great forum....
Welcome to the forum, like the said there are lots of different bacon to try and all are great!

Don he's right in the middle, he's in Ft Dodge. Shorty if you head over to the NE corner like your going to Cabela's stop off in Edgewood at the Locker plant. They have some pretty dang good Pork bellies. Might I suggest clearing your calender for the weekend of July 28th!! ;D
Just make sure you get to the Edgewood Locker bright and early before it gets crowded...
Or you'll have to stand in line a while..

Oh my.... We have a really good meat locker just north of town and I happen to know the owner. He does his hogs on Thursdays, so I stopped today and got my first pork belly. So this weekend I will be starting the inaugural bacon. I'm super excited.
Whats the weekend of July 28th????
And I did a whole chicken the other night (no pictures cuz I got home later than anticipated from work and that's all I had out to eat for dinner and so not done til almost 830) and it was fabulous.

Amazing how the Locker looks just like your home, Graceland, and a few other places you have visited. Must have been the same architect and developer ;D ;D

July 28 is round three of the Midwest Smokeout...a (now) annual gathering of friends and smoker's at Tenpoint5's residence. Had the honor and privilege of attending last year, and hoping to be able to make it back this year...too early to make the call yet.
I'm a little to your Southwest in Ida Grove, IA.
Where does everyone get their bisquettes? I know they are obviously available online, but any retailers carry them?????

Bass Pro is where I get mine - they're only a couple miles up the road from me
Cabelas (they even have their own special flavor - Rosemary, Pepper & Thyme)

If you ever get to the exotic island and town of Lamu (off the coast of Kenya), "Bradley Bisquette Central" always has the best deals...
Just walk in, tell 'em 10.5 sent ya, and they'll give you an extra 10% off...
BUT, YOU GOTTA GET THERE EARLY TO AVOID THE CROWDS..
