Today was the third annual Chili Challenge and Football Tailgate here in Cascade. I really didn't want to go with my wife and kids to see my sister in laws new house, so I entered. After making the first batch of chili I tasted it and tasted it then said I better make some for me or I won't have enough to take to the Chili Cook Off. So i went back to the grocery store and bought all the ingredients again and made round two. Since this batch was to be for me I doctored it up and kicked up the heat. I even cut up some of my Pork and Shrimp Sausages and put them in there. After eating a bowl I said to myself SELF this is really good maybe we should enter this one instead. So I called the lady in charge of the contest and asked if I could put two entries in. She said sure thing. Cool one medium and one hot entry loaded into the truck today and down to the park. There ended up being 14 people entered into the cook off. Here is a picture of the chili that I entered as the hot entry.

I was told by several people that it was the hottest of the chili's that where there. When everything was said and done. I went home with this, along with bragging rights for the next year.

What Chris said,,,,,,,,,,,,,got some snow today too
Didnt stick around though
Ok so here I is sitting in the living room minding my own business when the Editor of the paper calls me. He says since you won the chili cook off, and our reporter said you really get into this sort of thing. We want to do an article about you and how you do the chili cook offs. AAhhh OK says I. So a coupls of days later I go up to the newspaper office and sit down for this interview. First question out of the gate is "So how many chili cook-offs have you done?" Ahh this is my first one. You going to enter in the chili cook- off in Dubuque? Nope they already had it and I just did this on a whim. Silence. Then he asked about the sausage idea I had in the chili and how did that come about. Long story short the rest of the interview became about the Bradley Smokers, The Forum, and about the Midwest Smoke Out. Ended up being about a 45 minute interview. Well surprise surprise. I unfold this weeks paper and there's my ugly mug on the front page!! He forgot to stop by and take a picture on Saturday when I was smoking my snack sticks. So I sent him one of the pictures 10.5 1/4 took.
Here's the link to the article that he wrote.

Go ahead and give me crap! It can't be any worse than what Momma and our friends are giving me. Being in the paper 2 weeks in a row and not to mention being on the front page!
That's Awesome, nice job.
I think Chris must have hired himself a press agent or something. What's next "Smokin' with the Crowley's" reality TV???? ;D
