Got 5pnds of beef jerky heading to iraq.

That's a great idea Nepas, jerky must be one of many home comforts that they'll be missing over there, i bet it will put a big smile on their faces (http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Respect/respect-023.gif) ;)

Here is the finished jerky. Smoked for 2 hours @170* with hickory soaked with JD. First time I tried soaking the pucks and it worked pretty good. Left just a slight residue on the burner but it wiped right off. Finished in my commercial dehydrator @150* for 5 hours.
Yes i use cure. Gots to split it up half/half bound for Iraq and Afgahnistan for sons. AIRBORNE HOOOOAHHHHH

Very nice. I do the JD soak as well, and maybe next time I'll try it on the pucks. :D

When a soldier ask your sons....where'd you get this ? And is told , my Dad sent it...and he made it.
