Looks good thus far!
Surprising how many butchers do not even know the difference between the two pieces, at least in SoCal. You will be happy NePa, this is a more sliceable piece if you desire. . . but you were likely geared up to pull?
Does look pretty ;)
That's looking good Nepas, is it going in the BPS? ;)
I'll trade ya one of mine. ;D

That ain't fair play Giz!!! I'm sitting here at zero and have a cold and you start showing pictures like that! :P I am sooooo hungry right now. Good looking grub there. :) ;)
Wow! looks great Giz!, are those "Bear claws" ? they look like they'd make short work of pulling! ;)
Sorry Ice. I sometimes miss the window ledge refrigeration for ice cold beer (9 months dead of winter in Great Mistakes, Ill.).
Lil, Yes those are the bear claws. Just received them and this was the first try. They do work well and are also great for lifting the butts out of the boat.
Heading down to my Moms shortly to deliver some shredded and the top five inches of the butt on the right (not shredded). Going to bring down some beef jerky as well. After all she is my number one fan. ;D
Nice Giz, good idea about lifting the pork with the claws, that's never easy with big cuts of meat that are still hot from cooking.
Great treat for your mom, always look after mom, it's one of the golden rules ;)
Hey Giz ! Where did you get the claws ?
Looks like the Allied Kenco variety: http://www.alliedkenco.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2540&osCsid=2619d2c086091307fd73bd821b2f1bba
Just ordered a pair for myself.

Prizewinning gubb,my smokehouse buddies. Giz, Nepas , I've gotta stop checking post after midnight. ;D

Awesome NePa,
Pigout, Sparkler is correct they are from Kenco.
Mom loved the care package. I brought down some of Iceman's Sopin Sauce and it was a huge hit as well. My mom doesn't like the real sweet BBQ sauce and Iceman's hits the mark on balance and tang with that hint of "Attitude". Mom's neighbor was delighted with the samich and sauce as well. If I keep this up, I might have to get a Goose Bay franchise started here and work for the 8).
Nice looking grub guys!
For those interested... Here is a link to the aforementioned bear claw, or "PAW" as it is referred to by this vendor.

One of these days I'll have me a pair of them. Just ran it by Dad, and although it's the lowest priced item I've considered as a smoker accessory, he wasn't very receptive of the idea. One day I will have them though.

It was a double pack from Costco. I think the best way to answer your question is to say I believe it was the shoulder butt (boston butt) and not the picnic shoulder. Since I am not a meat packer, I couldn't say for sure as the package just refers to it as a shoulder.
oh my goodness......that looks SO DELICIOUS YOU GUYS!
I need a set of those claws.
I had to show the old man the pics of that yummie looking meat. I am drooling right now.
mapes
The hide and bone are the best id i know. Also butt give the country style ribs so you know that bone.
Got my paws on the paws today...don't know if the spent the night in my post office or not since we didn't go get the mail yesterday. Look nice and mean...just like I had hoped. :D
All I can say is the grub looks great. And that I can't believe Micki posted some results just like all of yours (couldn't resist).
Cheers, all, and happy weekend.
