Hey Ron,
Is the Ponchatoula competition during the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival?  Folks, if you have never had a strawberry from Ponchatoula you have missed half of life.  They are so stinking good!

No. It is usually in October. They close off downtown and we park along the railroad tracks. This year was the 2nd annual and it's already booked again for next year. GREAT group of people put it on and they cater to us cooks hand over foot making us happy. I managed a 6th in ribs this year but only finished 11th in brisket and 12th in chicken out of 44 teams.

I did drink some stawberry wine though ::)

Jennings was a hoot also. They had Wayne Toups and Travis Matt playing and we were setup about 100yrds from the stage. It felt like someone was dancing on top of my camper until 0230 in the morning!
