St Louis Style Ribs - First try with New Smoker

Newbie here ...

Well if all goes well my new Bradley BTIS1 should arrive tomorrow. I plan on smoking a rack of St Louis style ribs to start.

I have purchased 1 box of apple wood, 1 box of Jim Beam & 1 variety package. (arrived today!) I was planning on using apple wood exclusively on my first attempt. (Should I mix and match?)

My question is how long should I smoke the ribs and should I use smoke the whole time? I know I have read where you do not need to smoke the ribs the whole time and you can use the low heat to do some of the cooking.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to use anymore briquettes than I need to.

The wood is up to you. I wouldn't mix until you get used to what the base flavors are.

Make sure you don't close the top vent all the way.

Most people don't run smoke the entire time, 3 or 4 hours is sufficient for most.

Apple on ribs is a good smoke, start with 3 hr.

June 2nd delivery date pushed back to June 3rd. Oh well.

Plan is to season the smoker tomorrow with 3 bisquettes of Jim Beam smoke upon its arrival. Brine my ribs then dry rub them with a rub I made. Then I guess I will smoke em for 3 hours using Apple Wood on Friday. Then I will cook 2 more hours in a foil packet with some apple juice before finishing one final hour of heat with a homemade Barbecue Sauce I am going to try.

I just did some ribs about two weeks ago, best ribs I've had in a long time, dry rub, no brine, smoke for two hours with apple, foil with apple cider and bbq sauce for one more. they came out excellent.
