I have about 5 pounds of bacon pieces/slices left over from processing wild game this last hunting season, any ideas what to do with it. All help would be appreciated thanks.

Habanero Smoker

I would vacuum seal them in 8 ounces to 1 pound amounts, and use them for baked beans, cabbage, casseroles, and other recipes that call for bacon. I recently saw a recipe for Maple Glazed Peanuts with Bacon that sounds good.

A HabS suggested, freeze and save for general flavoring in beans, soups, etc.

Want a more specific idea that emphasizes bacon ?  How about Bacon Jam !

Try it on hot biscuits.

Here are a couple of soups that feature bacon as more than just a tidbit flavoring ...

I will go with the Bacon Jam suggestion. Slather some on a bun then top with hot pulled pork nothing else needed

Odd... I've never heard of 'leftover bacon'. Any and all the above sound like great ideas. If you really get into a bind, I'll send you my address if it helps ;D

All Measurements are Approximate:
Small Batch
6 Cups Water
3-4 Cubes of Chicken Bullion
4 lbs Potatoes small cubed
4 Stalks Celery Chopped
15-20 Baby Carrots Chopped
6 Mushrooms Chopped
3/4 lb Bacon (Preferably homemade smoked, but store bought peppered bacon will do in a pinch)
1 Block 2% Velveeta Cheese

Add bullion, potatoes, celery, carrots and mushrooms to boiling water.
Cut up bacon into @ 1 inch pieces and fry. Drain grease off of bacon and add to pot with potatoes & other veggies.
Boil until potatoes & carrots are done, but not getting mushy.
Add salt & pepper to your preference @ 1-1/2 tsp each.
I add a little of something from the spice rack @1tsp, Rosemary, Marjoram, Italian Seasoning whatever spice I feel like at the moment, sometimes I get really wildand add a couple!
Turn heat down to low-med low.
Cut Velveeta into @ 1 inch cubes.
Slowly add 3-5 pieces of cheese at a time stirring into melt.
Keep adding cheese until desired taste of cheese and consistency.
Sometimes need the whole block of cheese sometimes not.
Some of our family/friends like a thinner soup & some like it thicker, so I make accordingly to who is eating with us that night.

Cut off top of bread bowl (I try to get Sheppard's bread, but the sour dough sounds awesome. )
I just use my fingers to pull out pieces of the inside, try to pull out in 1" or so pieces to hollow out and make a "bowl"
SAVE the pieces in a bowl to serve for dipping!
Put bread bowl in an actual bowl, they do leak sometimes , and when you get around to eating the bowl it's pretty handy.
Ladle soup into bred bowl & set cut off top of bread on side/top and serve.
Serve with salt pepper and \Tobasssco to taste

All great ideas guys thanks for the help. Trying to use as much as i can then I will vaccum the rest. That soup sounds good, will definitely try that OU812 and the bacon jam Tenpoint5. Tried your rib recipe, great, going to do more this week, off all week. Also going to smoke 2 turkey breasts and make some bacon. Yes off all week. Other that cutting fire wood and keeping fire hot will be smoking. I'll be smoking on both sides of the house. Of course I have plenty of refreshments on hand. Wife says I;m becoming addicted to smoke, she's right. Will try to get pictures this time with new phone and download to computer. Thanks again everybody.
