Can you hot smoke with it? Are pellets cheaper than pucks?

Yes. You can use it to supplement your smoker. Like the smoke pistol or smoke daddy. Or to cold smoke.
As far as pellets being cheaper then pucks I couldn't tell you. I pay 19.99 per 20lb for pellets. I haven't purchased pucks in a while. I got plenty of them still. All pellet smokers are different so they consume more or less pellets for the same amount of time of cooking. Muebe says his new Memphis uses way less pellets then his Traeger did.
