Just curious......I want to smoke a couple bellies.  Will a single rack in the top position support a couple bellies on bacon hangers, or do I need to engineer something to hook the hangers to?

beefmann

depends on the total weight of the bellies,,, I have had 15 lbs on a  single rack though it was spread out across the rack... if your bellies are spread out i dont  see why not if the total weight is near 15 lbs.. if below... go for it

You can always stack 2-3 racks together.  I use 2 racks when I have a heavy pork butt.

Hi pyrofred;

Welcome to the forum.

If you are hanging them with dowels or rods that are supported by the shelf brackets, I believe the brackets for the racks will support up to 35lbs., but don't quote me on that. I have had 18 lbs. on one self, so I know it will hold at least that much.

If you can engineer something, coming through the top vent, so that the roof of the smoker is supporting the weight that would be better, but the supports inside the smoker needs to be ridged.
