So I bought my typical 3 racks of baby backs and prepped them last night, went to fire up the OBS this morning and nothing, heating element is dead. So now I have 3 racks of baby backs and no smoker. Anybody have any good methods for cooking in the oven?

Squirter, I'd just follow the times and temps you had planned for the smoker, only using the oven, and I think you'd come out with some acceptable ribs.  To add some smoke flavor, you might brush the ribs with some liquid smoke diluted with water or apple juice, if you have those items available.  Can't tell you ratios to use.  But, I think I'd start with 1 teaspoon of liquid smoke in 1/2 cup of liquid and do a taste test to see what it tastes like.  Or take a look at smoke sauce recipes that use liquid smoke and see what ratios are used there.

Thank you!

I usually go with 3-2-1ish and was thinking of doing the last 30-40 min on the grill over med heat to help dry them out and throw a bit of grill flavor on them. This sound like a decent plan of attack?

Cook at 250 covered with some apple juice in pan. You may want to spritz some juice every hour. take ribs out when they pull back from bone about an inch.

Sounds perfect h20. I was going to suggest doing the 3-2 in the oven and finish on the grill. Looks like you already have a plan of attack.

Now to tackle fixing my OBS so I can get back to smoking.

H2O, when I do BB's I use 3-1-1. They don't usually need as much time as St.Louis style.
Give a man a beer and he'll waste a day.
Teach him how to brew and he'll waste a lifetime.

I'd double wrap in foil with a 1/4 cup of apple juice or your fav. lager and bake em for 4-5 hours at 220F.  Finish with sauce on the bbq for the grill taste and if you can put some woodchips or charcoal in a foil pouch or smoker box in the bbq, then even better!  I'm sure they'll be tasty!

I'm a couple of days late but what the heck. I like to rub mine the night before and put them in the oven, uncovered, on a cookie sheet. Bake at 225 for a couple of hours. If I am gonna add sauce, I will put it on and then kill the oven and let them rest in there for about 15-30 minutes.
